Wow. I never expected SE to ever use a device with Windows Mobile. I'm really excited about the X1! I want to find out more details of the CPU they'll be using... With Opera 9.5 coming out, this phone seems like it will put any other PPC/PDA/SmartPhone to shame, especially with that huge WVGA screen.
On top of said features, i think SE has a leg up over the existing PPC comptetition for one reason alone - software development.

me thinks that with the x1 being announced then the p5 is still in mid development! dont expect it to run on windows mobile like the x1
ive gotta say that there isnt nothing that the x1 can do taht the nokia e90 cant so se really need to up there game if they wanna beat the e90

Dont forget that this is the only Phone announced in MWC that features HSUPA and 1700 band. now tell me where nokia had been?
Samsung phones are as well amazing, but those nokia fanboys ruin the forum with their "sensible" kick backs to SE and Samsung.
Nokia's new flagship N96 uses the same lame QVGA resolution to be compared with Xperia's WVGA? it seemed unfair for them to compare, not even the colors of the N96 can save Nokia for their direct hit from SE and Samsung imho.
and anyway N96 focal length has been reduced to 5.2mm which is now utterly similar to K850's 5.16mm so does this mean that N96 downgraded the camera sensor size?

Windows Mobile Downplayed
Sony Ericsson officials downplayed the significance of its decision to launch a Windows Mobile-based handset, focusing more on the new Xperia brand. The X1's Windows Mobile 6 underpinnings were referenced only via some visual cues in a video about Xperia and the X1, and were mentioned only in passing later on.

In fact, the handset has a custom user interface--consisting of 9 square icons that Sony Ericsson calls panels--which sits on top of the usual Windows Mobile 6 interface. The company also said the Xperia brand was not tied to Windows Mobile, so that future Xperia models could support other mobile phone platforms.
However Rikko Sakaguchi, head of Portfolios and Propositions for Sony Ericsson, said using Windows Mobile would allow the company to broaden its customer base, and also said it was the best platform in terms of PC integration.
The handset itself has a resistive 3-inch VGA touchscreen atop an optical navigation pad; the display slides sideways in a gently curved arc (and changes screen orientation to landscape mode) to reveal a roomy QWERTY keyboard. It supports assisted GPS and Wi-Fi as well as HSDPA, and has a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera.

I was wondering. What is the difference between the K and C series. Isn't the K series known for the cybershot series, but now it seems that the c series is going to be the cameraphone line.

What do you mean "real GPS". AGPS is superior to GPS. GPS has trouble in poor signal conditions, with AGPS, this is assisted using GPS plus a combination of positioning by the operator, which means even better location finding than via GPS alone.

Sony ericsson is making their name again! after the boring years of the past with very conservative looking phones... here they are releasing something enormous and not too conservative...
this is a comeback!
nokia owns 40+ percent of market share... and i gues that thing is about to change! with these phones plus samsung's flagship phone plus the famous iphone together with its upgrade will really threaten nokia's dominance in the mobile world!
Nokia must embrace touch screens! for they are the trend now!
if the series 90(7710,7700) only has faster UI, i think it will be famous just like iphone! but unfortunately it was discontinued! i do understand why nokia made these phones slow because it will rival their series 60 phones(i.e. 6680 during that time)... nokia can't have 2 flagship phones... so they decided to make it slower and eventually they decided to discontinue the series...
as for me, the series wasn't unsuccessful... it's just that the phones are slow thats why it didn't made a name in the world... nokia did made an alternative for these series 90 and they are now their tablets, tablets that has no phone in it... a good strategy actually, so that it won't rival their series 60 phones... i still love to have big chunky series 90 though because they really look too techie...and really captures tehh attention of many people! haha!
