so this is really just safari with chrome services.

Latest reports say 19% of mobile browsing is with mobile safari. So Google wants to some of Apple's pie.

If they can get users hooked on Chrome services (bookmark synching, etc) they'll get the user to use Chrome on the desktop or maybe even get users to switch over to Android.

This isn't about Google giving love to Apple, it's about Google working their way into iPhone users to get them to switch over. Google folks are smart, I'm sure they have this all planned out.

Or Google just wants to underhand Apple on their own OS by providing the better Chrome browser to tackle Safari on its own turf.

haha, i see google has finally learn that to earn even more money (not to mention users), google must shake hands w/Apple. there's even a research that google makes more money w/iOS devices rather w/there android army. that's fairly impressive considering the fact that iOS devices is only one in this battle while android are like...3? 4? 5? more.

nice one google. here's thumbs up!

I'm not going into slammering Apple vs. Google like some commenters here are doing.
I would just like to congratulate Google on releasing his good stuff to any platform, even rival ones.
Because in the end this approach always pays off for the consumer and in the long run even the company itself.
Unlike some other giant companies like Microsoft and Apple who only seek how to quickly monetize their own products to the max while customers "get hurt" in the process.
Keep up the good work Google!
