Their success depends on one thing only...
If they don't / can't get developers on board - then it's dead on arrival...
Forget how good a handset looks (remember the N8?) it died a death because a) laggy OS b) no apps for it... despite it looking AMAZING...
People don't just want a phone to make calls / texts.. they want them to do EVERYTHING - gaming, browsing, shopping, productivity, films, photos, music...
And without that infrastructure of apps - why would someone move to it from all of the apps they've bought over the past few years (regardless of what OS they are using now) to a phone with no apps?
MeeGo is probably a good OS, maybe even a great one.
But the fact is, great software don't necessarily translate to most popular software - and that's what matters.
iOS and Android both have flaws, but the fact remains that they both control over 80% of smartphone market.
There's only space for a "third place" OS, and that would be either WP8 or BB10 depending on how people feel.
Meego, I'm sorry, is a bit too late to the party.
nice move guys... looking forward to see the new Meego device. i'm fond about Linux and anything deriving from passion instead money incentive.
so i wish you great success! forget nokia,it is the past. Heads up!!! Congratulations!

Is Makrygiannis also joining? The prolific team has shown it can deliver!
This is my first post here. Today's market is very competitive and phone makers come up with new designs very quickly..... Why not to give them a fair chance, they just might be the one company to change the rules of the game.... again... and raise the par. They do not need to beat all the main players, rather, they should focus on providing unique user experience supported by quality hardware.... it won't be easy to get the magic recipe, but, who knows ?!!!!
Nokia had good chance with MAEMO and the killed it right their, and the same is going with MeeGo. Had NOKIA decided to proceed with MeeGo, i assume that Jolla founders would have never left (or laid off)

i have premonition that nokia under lead of microsoft trojan will sue them into oblivion ...
This is nice and all, but time for you guys to face reality. The chances of this company bringing a successful phone to market is next to nil. You want Meego buy an N9. Otherwise wait on Tizen and stop dreaming.

This disloyal breakaway company will be patent sued by Microsoft and Nokia for even attempting to rival us.
