Samsung only provides the hardware for google who betters the software with it´s own. That´s where Samsung Galaxy Nexus got the Nexus part in it

Cyanogenmod 7 based on Gingerbread made my Galaxy S a brand new phone. Before the mod it was crap thanks to Samsung's mediocre software. Its 20X faster and smoother it has no bugs anymore audio quality went up by 200%.
And even tho its Gingerbread its 10X faster smoother and more powerful then ICS is on my friends Nexus S.
And best of all the installation was easy.Try it..you will be amazed.

Well Mr.Anonymous who doesn't want a custom rom, Custom ROMS are made for those who like to take control of their devices and print their ownership on what they own and to get rid off the companies silly policies and just for your info Samsung got great hardware with low service support .
Plus if you don't like Custom ROMS you don't have to do it, Nobody forced you on it. Just take a deep breathe and enjoy your stock firmware.

Watch the custom ROM makers get 4.1 updates out while the manufacturers make every excuse under he sun and achieve next to nothing.
