Anonymous, 23 Jul 2012This is why you wait for WP8. Guaranteed at least 18 months of software updates.desire HD i already more than 24 months old -,-
Windows Phone Fan, 23 Jul 2012Haha Burn! by Android Posted from my Lumia 900.AT&T networklook the one who speaking, a beta tester! :)
The funny thing is, if HTC never mentioned the DesireHD back in march when they released all the models that would get an update, no one would have cared because they knew the phone was two years old. It was a suprise HTC even mentioned it in the first place.
It would be nice if HTC gave people the option to update manually like they did for the original Desire. With that phone, you could not OTA update it to 2.3 but if you went to the htc developers website, you could download a program that updated the phone manually. FYI 2.3 on the original desire was pretty terrible, 40mb left to install apps was pretty much it.
However, i find it annoying that HTC says that the update made the HD run poorly. The phone is identical to the OneV besides from the camera, and if anything, the HD would run ICS better than the OneV because it has more RAM. In reality, HTC are being lazy (which is pretty common for them).

Just goes to show that if you want the best Google mobile experience get a Nexus anything else is just not guaranteed go updates on time with no fuss.
H, 22 Jul 2012How could a lower-spec Desire V and a much lower-spec Desire C run Sense 4 & ICS, but a De... moreIts called marketing, HTC does not see the need to update an old phone thus forcing people to buy newer phones from them. HTC is just that way..
Dave, 22 Jul 2012Back in the real world, it isn't just Samsung that makes the nexus lineup...but considering the original nexus is no longer supported by Google then yes, in the real world, Samsung is the sole manufacturer of the nexus smartphone lineup.
I wish phone companies would stop trying to pretend that this is down to hardware performance or compatibilty issues. If some bloke in his bedroom can get it working then there's no excuses for a corporate body backed by huge human and financial resources.
Even Apple are at it by apparently only giving 4s/iphone5 ios6 users turn by turn navigation instructions (among a few other things). Its not on relll imh
it is okay not to get the update, we've got froyo==>gingerbread update last time.
But they need to explain the reason behind it so we are not assume or compare only based on the spec alone (one V vs DHD etc..)
Please explain HTC, as long as it is clear explanation we are okay.
m86k, 23 Jul 2012ICS is slow as hell on my Xperia Ray, it has been reported like that by many users. I even had... moreThe reason your phone was doing bad with ICS doesn't grant the right to manufacturer to not update/support your phone.
It's better to ask them why not make it works if they can with lower spec models. At least, I want support from someone I paid for, not from someone doing it for free(XDA).
In relation to the comments on the 2011 Xperia phones which got the ICS update, let me tell you that I own an Xperia Neo, and it's running smooth as butter. The trick is to disable Facebook, Twitter, and Live Wallpapers. I have around 70 apps installed, including a few hi fi games, and I experience no lag. And please do not install task managers.
Piss Droids, 23 Jul 2012And then when that brand doesn't update on time as well, it's back to: "I'll never buy... moreWe still have Nexus Phones on our side. Even it can't be compare to current flagship models, it's far better than every iPhone out there.
H, 22 Jul 2012Also my HTC Glacier (myTouch 4G/Panache) is stuck on gingerbread while a lower spec Xperia Ray... moreICS is slow as hell on my Xperia Ray, it has been reported like that by many users. I even had to downgrade manually to GB as i couldn't bear the chopiness on daily usage. So now, when a manufacturer says so, i tend to trust it. (i don't count on CM roms, i want 100% of my phone features working every day with its manufacturer's identity, not a generic one).
So Grow up a bit people, it's not because you nerds were aware of some ICS update for 1 phone which finally won't happen, that HTC will loose all its customers.
