"They don't specify if the 3.2% share that Windows Phone has is strictly Windows Phone or Windows Phone AND Windows Mobile. As of last month, Windows Mobile still had twice the market share of Windows Phone (at least in the US) so I'm guessing it's both and they aren't saying it. "

Dude, its shipped phones. Windows mobile aren't made anymore ;)

I think i'ts slightly higher than 5,1 million actually. Nokia shipped 4 million and surely HTC and Samsung have shipped more than 1,1 million WP phones

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2012-08-02 18:14 from j1Hg - click to readIt's not Android thats cheap. It's that it's a flexible platform that manufacturers can put it into lower spec devices - yes, cheaper devices - which makes it availble / accessible to more people.

Does this cheapen the Android experience? Quite possibly.

Apple, by controlling both the software & hardware ensure users get the OS experience Apple intends = if they can afford it. Though Google can't claim the same, at least people can get a something that fits their budget - they know their buying a cheaper version in the same way people buy cheaper models and lower spec cars according what they can afford.

There is nothing surprising about this. most people will buy cheap phones. doesn't make android better or worst. just makes it cheap.

Perhaps GSMArena can get the lowdown on this?

> In reply to [deleted post]WOW. I'm an IoS user but what you just said is shocking. i diont know how you managed to come up with that statement but you are not all there if you think that. Android is a great OS and so are some of the phones it goes on. If you want an expensive phone go for a diamond iphone or vertu.

Dont big yourself up to be a rich man when all you got is a free phone on a contract.
