Not Android / Google issue. Is LG. Please make yourself clear. And WP sucks to the max.

I have had a number of Windows Mobile phones, all with a Windows Update program, but never having updated anything.
So why should SW updates be better on a Windows phone ?

The case is that the producers doesn't make much money on SW upgrades, as the HW models are replaced in a fast phase, the the vendors would like us to buy new ones instead of upgrading the 6-12 months "old" phones.

Why not make SW upgrades free the first 12 month, and then for a small fee - eg 10$ enable SW upgrades ?
This would give loyal happy customers, and some money in the pocket for the vendors.

you forgot about this https://twitter.com/LGCanada/status/233577099032670209

it was only sold in Canada yet the statement says that the phone will get the update then 8 months after LG Canada says its not getting the update like what gives?? if I recall what they just did would be called False & Misleading Customers in order to bring up sales and that my friend is called FRAUD.

LG should switch to Windows Phone 8 and never worry about software updates again. Not like Android where they have to make their own buggy updates.
