It is better than the previous Desire (your post implies it isn't). The Desire X is a dual core phone with a bigger screen and a bigger battery in only a slightly bigger size.
It is better than the HTC One V (similar size) in most important areas.
It isn't a step backwards. Silly to say it is.

The Xperia P has advantages and disadvantages in comparison. Not an outright better phone at all. Down to personal preference rather than some fanboy squirting off an unsubstantiated one liner.
The Sola is only slightly small than the Desire X but has only a 3.7" screen. The Sola only has 512mb ram which is very border line for and ICS upgrade. The battery is also very small. The Desire X is definitely more tech for size than the Sola.

> In reply to hasan @ 2012-08-28 21:32 from 3JHT - click to readIt will be considerably cheaper, like 60% of the One S, which is a very good reason to many people who might be tossing up between the two.

It is very likely that it'll have a qualcomm snapdragon chipset probably msm8225 or similar.this chipset is based on cortex a5 cpu architechture.it's possibly the lightest dual core chipset around with adreno 203 gpu and doesn't support hd recording.this might explain wvga recording on this one.if that's true then it'll be inferior to similarly priced galaxy s advance, xperia u,sola that run on novathor chipset.

I believe this is a step down for HTC, no real improvements from the previous contenders in the Desire series. Still a 5MP camera, still low storage for the current market, no MicroSIM, only 768MB of RAM. This leaves it nearly the same as the original Desire and Desire S. Not a good release for a phone company that prides itself on pushing the boundaries of the current mobile market. As a salesperson in the telecommunications industry, I will be avoiding this one.
