iPhone 5 catches up to flagship droids in first Geekbench scores - read the full textThere was plenty of speculation what kind of CPU powered the new iPhone 5 and in the end it turned out to be a custom Apple design. So, how well did the Cupertino-based company did? According to an unverified Geekbench results, A6more than meets the 2x performance increase Apple promised. The...

If A6 processor really even with krait dual core processor Apple should communicate this as their main features not 4 inch longer display which simply outdated.

Just to explain. I love phones, so plenty of my friends b4 getting a new smartphone comes to me asking about witch one would be better, so if the person has a bit of experience with smart phones or know how to use it well,i would recommend this person to get a galaxy s3,or maybe wait to see the lumia 920. But in case it's an old person or someone who use the phone just to make phone calls and some times go to internet,i would definitely say, ohhh get an iPhone.

> In reply to Android Man @ 2012-09-17 18:45 from Lh{x - click to readActually your partly correct - it's more like taking that 1.6 litre Aastra engine, redesigning & tweaking it for better performance and economy, then puting it in a super light weight chassis and body (OS optimisation) The Aastra engined car would really fly and run close to a Ferrari in straight line - up to a point.
The problem is often Ferrari engines (quad core) are put in a tank (poorly streamlined OS or Launchers).

So excellent optimisation can and often do beat shear grunt in the phone, and car world. I'm not an Apple fan however there is little denyhing that their OS is well optimized for it's hardware and generally... regardless of how much or little iOS may do compared to others.

To gsmarena:
It is not a gud point to compare frequency of krait and A6 cpus! Just a slight increase in GHz can result in exponential increase in TPD of cpu. so manufacturers clock cpus o balance the performance v/s power consumption and heat dessipation.
Iphone 5 cud be a thermal power plant when clocked @1.5Ghz!!

Catches up? Please it's still missing 300 points and that's without real customization, just a different kernel and @1.6ghz clock(keep in mind i get 1611 @1.2ghz and only 70% stable undervolt)

well no doubt a heavily biased apple website. probably not real at all.

like saying a 1.6 litre astra is faster than ferrari. totally unrealistic.

What kind of a news is this???
There is not any concrete test results, yet it is claimed that A6 core beats Krait.
Ok, that could be the case but where is the test results then???

Barely edges out One S on ICS? LG Optimus G will crush the iPhone in that case.

> In reply to [deleted post]gah!! when comparing, a sane person wud say "ios vs anroid", and since apple is so dumb to release one phone every year, you re just struggling to feel like you have a point, and ios doesnt have the "latest apps and technology" THAT was like in 2009 :P now, talking numbers, the article says that the iphone 's performance is less than the gs3, the gs3 has a quadrant score of about 5100...the dual core sony xperia v has a quadrant score of 6000+, the iphone 5 has an 8mp camera, the xperia v has a 13 mp camera, that s excluding the secondary camera...the iphone has a 4 inch screen!!!come on dude, when i first heard that i couldnt believe it...the iphone has 1gb ram and NO memory card slot...v_v

> In reply to [deleted post]Ok so you think we have some shit phone that can't afford I phone
First of all we don't care, second of all I think you really don't understand why don't like I phone, not because our phones are shit that we can't afford apple so I can tell you I phone is a really good phone but it can be the king or the queen or what ever you call it, because it's not logic and a lot of benchmark show that Samsung galaxy s3 is better than I phone so how come now I phone show a benchmark better than I phone, OK I phone is a good phone but there's are a lot of phone better than I phone now, so understand the mind of android fans then come talk, Btw I used ios and I don't like it because, my personality hate something limite and don't like something repeated, and same design, and I like also a big screen, so think before saying

> In reply to Alui @ 2012-09-17 17:05 from Am9Y - click to readSure, I agree with you're first two points but surely every new OS runs risks of doing something wrong. Hence there are 'updates' to remedy such problems. Saying its bulky? And saying it has stupid colours? That, sir/madam/thing, makes you rather silly... I personally prefer a weighty phone. I think it makes the phone feel more sturdy (my Lumia 800 is perfectly weighted for me). As opposed to the iPhone which just feels too fragile. And colours? You get loads of colors. Which to me means 'options'. As opposed to 'Black or White'... Rather limited. So since you have ALL these 'very important' concerns, you, sir/madam/thing have the CHOICE of getting whatever YOU like... And the rest of us will do the same...

The A6's score also puts it ahead of Android device benchmarks. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S III with a Samsung Exynos 4412 quad-core chip rated at 1.4GHz posted a score of 1588, compared to the A6's 1,601.

> In reply to Kalia @ 2012-09-17 13:29 from t}uV - click to readEvery time we should repeat the same thing to apple fans. Did you really red the article or you talk just like that, go read the article carefully and understand it and if you can't understand one word, go search it in the dictionary, and don't be really happy because it's not logic what gsmarena is putting and the chip is from Samsung so when you buy an I phone, you pay for Samsung, so go read

> In reply to haha @ 2012-09-17 11:57 from v6pd - click to readYou need to know, that is fanboyism logic. Release a phone a half year later, be slower, act like the king.

And not to mention, the new chip did not run on iOS5, it ran on iOS6, so you need to compare it with Jelly Bean running SGS3. Man I blieve even SGS2 matches it with Jelly Bean running on it ^^
