Apple iPhone 8GB gets a price cut in UK

@sidneylopsides
mate check the website and go into an o2 store the n95 8gb is only foc on a £45 or over tariff over 18 months
so the iphone has a "poxy" 2mpx camera! if you want a camera buy one
it doesnt have mms! so what its easyer to send via email and pictures dont reduce to 1mpx unlike mms
bluetooth! so what people use it once a blue moon
but lets see about the price!
you go into an apple store to buy an ipod touch (£199.99) and then you take out a £35 contract for eighteen months and have to carry your phone and ipod round
hmmmmm wait a min you could just go into an apple store and buy an iphone for £169.00 and have both!
yes you can get an n95 8gb foc on a £45 tariff but that because your paying a subsidy in the contract for the phone
the iphone you buy because its direct from apple as is an ipod
if you dont want one then dont buy one but dont complain over it because you dont like them!

totally agree with the comments about Iphone being overpriced not to mention lacking in content, camera, download speed are factors that mean no way would i EVER be interested in an Iphone.
Just seems like a cynical marketing ploy to me. reminds me of what an old friend of mine once said (he was a car salesman) " you can sell any old rubbish if you only bother to market it properly"

It's still overpriced really, the N95 8GB is free on O2, £30 p/m 18m.
I was tempted to buy one when we got the demo ones in before launch, but lost interest after a couple of days. Now I can't see why there's so much hype about it.
It's got a nice screen and browser, but other than that it doesn't impress.
As far as I can see it's good hardware crippled by the software, there are options you'd expect to find that just aren't there.
Other than Visual voicemail, can somone tell me one actually thing that the iPhone can do that you can't do on a "normal" phone that costs less? It's pretty easy to do it the other way round ;-)

Nokia has wide range of phone from low to high end. Apple has only 1 model and already sold over 2 million units in the 1st quater of 2008. Not one single Nokia phone could achieve that figure in that short period of time. N95 is superior in every single way but lets face it, it's still way far behind iPhone in term of sales. Nokia is not going let Apple laugh its way.

Simply dont understand why people here are jealous of apple iPhone success. Its the outstanding Gen Z phone.Nokia lacks the power to successfully implant inbuilt memory. If Nokia isnt scared why it is following the touch trend and let the old tradition continue. Guys run with current trend and thats Apple.

Mobile Phone forget it ... Apple (a fruit company) is all about iPod only.
Not a good experience. Cost should be around GBP 100-125.
Its not worth having iphone.

This price drop will reflect a more realistic value for the device. If I was in the UK I would consider buying this phone - it's not a be all and end all but for general functions it works quite well and with a novel user interface. The issue being that my N95 just works so well for EVERYTHING. If only it did it with as much style =)

stop crying... i was one of the harshest iphone skeptics out there, until i actually tried the phone... yes, its functions are limited, yes itunes is gay, but whatever the iphone was made to do, it does it very very well. AND in a nice overall pretty package too. Its not for everyone, but its one stylish device and THE best web browsing phone out there period. It's not the best, but ive had my iphone for about 3 months now, and i ditched my nokia n82 in about 3 days... try the phone before u call it over hyped... it has its market, and it does its job. All that is lacking is a better camera, and A2DP. If apple adds both of these options, the iphone WILL be the fastest selling phone ever.

"The Apple iPhone is an overhyped, underspeced, overpriced, underperforming, oversized phone."
Overhyped? Probably. Underspeced? NO, Overpriced? NO, Underperforming? NO, Oversized? NO. Seriously. Look at the whole picture. If this were any other manufacturer, you would not see any of the same comments. This is Apples first phone, of course they're going to overhype it. Apple's priority is to ship every product it makes in large numbers and they don't cannibalize any of their product lines like every other phone manufacturer does. And this makes the kind of people that browse GSM Arena feel like they're not special because everyone knows about this phone and everyone has it. It just seems like people who have uncommon phones don't really appreciate the fact that a popular device may be better than their more exclusive device.

The Apple iPhone is an overhyped, underspeced, overpriced, underperforming, oversized phone. Look, the must have things that are important today are a decent size screen 2.6"-2.8", 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, 3.5G WCDMA and 3G UMTS both with HSDPA, and a 3 megapixel or greater camera with good colour rendition. As of right now, the only phones on the market that have this are the Nokia N95 and N95 8GB. There are two other contenders, those being the Nokia N82 which has a 2.4" screen, and the Samsung SGH-i550W which has 3G UMTS but no 3.5G WCDMA (which is okay if your carrier only provides UMTS coverage). I really feel sorry for anyone who purchased one of the iPhones!!!

this is typical carphone sales banter, nothing to do with how it is selling or not (as the case may be), carphone and O2 have overstocked and Steve Jobs has pulled a flanker leaving the O2/Carphone partnership with a surplus which must be shifted before they can get the new one's in, jobs won't give them out otherwise...
Simple... Contracts, Contracts and more Contracts......
Not just us that are stuck in them :)
