Apple iPhone 5 aluminum shell plagued by chipping issues - read the full textIt seems to have become a routine now. Every year Apple releases a new iPhone and while most of the customers are delighted a subset of buyers pull the short end of the stick. With the iPhone 4, it was the antennagate issue, with the iPhone 4S it was the battery life problem and now some iPhone 5...

I heard some people saying that they don't like android phones because they look/feel cheap. Let me tell you my friends this is what true cheapness is. Never have i seen or heard anything like this, especially coming from a mid range device with a high end price. People who want a phone for what it can do buy other os phones. Iphone is for people that don't care and don't want to bother, the reason why ios works so smothly is the fact that you can't alter it, it's designed for people that don't know a thing about phones. It's made in such a way that it'll work smothly no matter what you'll do to it, that's why it has all these limitations.

no voice calls/ simultaneous data, maps are ridiculed, now this.. seems like things r gettin worse and worse for the ip5..
think most knew this already as there are plenty of newly purchased ip5 pics floating around the net showing the easily chipped/scuffed aluminum sported on the new iphone.
not good

When Apple execs began to think like business suits--that lawsuits are a good alternative for profits--they started slacking on technology. They used to not mind being copied, because they knew they could outdo the copiers and much quicker. It was all good for consumers. Now, it's a different game--manufacturers will be VERY careful with their designs to avoid stepping on someone's patents. The consumers will not get the same speed of innovation as they used to.

apple has been stupid here, htc tried the same coating with the one s and it had the same problems, they should have had their ears open when this was happening bt they were too busy counting cash

It's becoming so obvious how U favourize apple and need to find excuse for every fail they have... This must not happen with theost expensive phone! But since poor china ppl are being tortured to make them, Im glad that apple has those issues!
shame on them and the ones who are writing these posts, nott being objective as they should be...

Sorry iphone fans. If this is the case of aluminum vs plastic, then plastic > aluminum all day.. Nuff' said.

Plastic is very good material. Nothing wrong with plastic. And only the ignorant think there's just one kind of plastic. Even luxury cars use some plastic and they're now used in mission-critical applications like handguns, jet canopies, high-end impact resistant sunglasses, etc. In sports cars, the most expensive, the very best ones use plastic bodies (yes, those carbon fiber shells are carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer or carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic - CFRP ).

Very good plastic can resist scratches and dents better than aluminum or glass. And when they do scratch, the resin can be same-colored so the scratches won't be very visible.

And what's the iPhone made of? Glass? Aluminum? These are not "exotic" material. Basically glass is processed sand. Aluminum is the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. So please stop pretending it's diamond and gold!

Is the article correct? Is the case anodized aluminium that has then been painted black? Or is it black anodized aluminium. Anodized black and painted black are totally different things.
