I think because it's a 4 inch screen it won't be a HD display; the original S3 has this selling point. Other than that and maybe some compromises such as the battery it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Hopefully they won't shave too many features and make it more suited to people with smaller requirements.
Samsung are producing new cores which are faster than previous fabrications. So hopefully Samsung are on the ball here and don't produce another Europa which has to be one of the worst smart phones I have owned.

Samsung is launching S III mini as Samsung S III have a direct competition with the new 4-inch iPhone 5 as the Galaxy S III has a much larger 4.8-inch display so they are launching S III Mini which costs around 29K.

> In reply to Dynamac @ 2012-10-07 12:53 from Y}Pi - click to readWhat you're saying will be right if Samsung called it S III mini. But it might end up being something else as the invitation only hints at the "S" brand.
However, Samsung might end up calling it S III mini and it's going to sell like cupcake whether if it'll feature a reduced screen size or underpowered device...
Nevertheless, I might be considering getting one if it'll pack polished specs of the Galaxy Victory 4G LTE L300 of Sprint and priced around 350 USD.

I don't understand the strategy here from Samsung. I think it makes sense to make a smaller version, but if you reduce the specs and call it a mid range device, then it only serves to confuse the valuable SIII brand name. If you are gonna drop specs instead of JUST making the screen smaller, then you need to call it something other than SIII. A pretty stupid marketing decision from what should be an intelligent company.

Already hold if for a while, it has i9100/i9070 specs @ 4 inch. Indeed 5MP en no stylus at all. A bit simpler S2 but with a "nicer" design(i9300 a like)

Also, rumors are that the camera would be 5MP unlike S3 which is a 8MP. I think samsung should not compromise on that

is there a possibility this might also turn out to be a S series phone with a stylus.. mini version of note for those who felt Note was much bigger to handle?

If it's no wider than 57 to 60mm, I'd seriously consider buying one. IMHO, the size of phones is getting totally ridiculous. You can't even fit one in your pocket. And for me anything wider than 60mm is just not comfy in the hand. You know how chefs talk about 'mouth feel', well phone manufacturers should consider 'hand feel'. I don't want a phablet. I seriously wish Nokia would build some android models, cause they build the best handsets.

I thought Samsung released ICS for S2 and released the Galaxy Nexus... Turned out that I was wrong. I even thought Samsung will release JB for S2... OMG!
Samsung may not be the manufacturer of the next Nexus, but releasing JB for S3 doesn't mean they're not!

If that was true, Samsung will cover a decent amount of market and the device will be more everyday-friendly...
