Some stupid SE fanatics are here :)
did you ever compared 5310 and 5610 audio quality to Walkmans? Even samsung and now LG have better sound quality than Walkmans, which are the worst nowadays. Check before post!

the 3.5mm jack is the ONLY thing that makes them better than the walkman range.
i compared the sound quality of nokia n95 and 7500 prism to SE w910.
i used some high quality altec lansing headphones and w910 has deeper bass and clearer mid and high sounds than these two. Also using the hpm-70 earphones you can use the built in microphone for conversations and that is more practical. So it is still inconclusive witch is better the 3.5 mm jack or the earphone adapter.

You Nokia people are so damn ANNOYING.
The earphones that come with SE phones are specifically designed for the phone, it gives AWESOME QUALITY, not to mention deep, rich bass.
You can use other earphones, although you have to plug it in to the attachment - big deal! In fact, using any other earphones sounds rubbish.

SE W's phones are the best music phones in market. SE gives a HPM-70 beside the phone and there you have the 3.5 audio jack. and if you use their own headphones you have the best earphones in the world! so... SE rulz!!!!!

I understand you comparing these phones with SE. the 5230 is way above and beyond SE's league with an S60 OS. the S40 series 5220 may just be at par. actually, SE's walkman series and all their phones in general have a more user-friendly interface than the S40s from Nokia.

Xpress Music is nowhere around to the greatest and oldest brand Walkman! The dedicated music keys on sides are pathetic.
3.5mm jack is useless. Walkman multi-purpose earbuds have them inbuilt (like in HPM-70). Use either default earphone or any 3.5mm headphones with it.

this is a proper music phone! totally designed around giving you the best music experience!
they give you standard headphone jacks! for gods sake why cant walkmans do this!!!!!! that alone makes the xpressmusic phones better!!
an audiochip is welcomed, although the music quality in my n95 is superb anyway
