Being an amateur in photography myself, I can see only 2 things causing this - 1) Lens, 2) Sensor IR Filter. The same picture taken by a host of other phones, including iPhone4, don't have purple haze. The following picture has been seen in multiple reviews of iPhone5 camera:
iPhone 4 doesn't have a perfect image... there is contrast loss and you can see rays spilling towards the bottom left corner, but at least there is no haze...
Besides, the light source doesn't have to be in frame. There are plenty of other pictures, where a light source is out of frame and the whole image turns pink.

I'm tired of everything called a flaw with the iPhone when it really is not...only issue worth really mentioning is the maps. The scratching issue is really a small price to oay. Fanboyism is annoying.

On the other hand though, I would recommend you wait for the new nexus phones to be announced befmakn a move on this phone.

An LG nexus with these specs would be great and you will have updates - LG makes good hardware hut they suck with updates and a nexus will solve that.

Personally, for me, unlocked nexus is the way to go. Better to pay upfront and have cheaper rate plans, prepaid plans and the freedom to switch carriers and to get a cheap sim when travellig internationally...

since the 13mp has the special 5-element sapphire lens like the iphone 5, i wonder if the same purple fringing will occur. att did well to pick up the 8mp version if the lens is indeed to blame.
