One touch, one HTC Touch Diamond

And the X1 is made by whom..?
Yep. HTC.
The X1 is a different product, it has a QWERTY. I don't think it'll be the Diamond's direct competition. The Diamond is more of a "superphone", much slimmer and more stylish.
The X1 still has the advantage of the SE logo stamped on it, though.

By the looks of things the HTC Touch 3D software runs on WinMo, so all the X1 requires is the ability to install this software, since they both run on the same 6.1 version of WinMo pro. It will be even beta if its made a one of the panels (HTC 3D Panel).

Check it out on htc.com. BUT NOTE, the camera does not have any flash, and is only 3.2, which for a high end design is woeful compared to the standard 5mps. So the camera lets the phone down.
4mb is adequate memory, but the battery is the KEY component overall. Have all your fancy features, but if your phone goes down during a call, surely the key point of having any phone is lost - and if you lose the call, how frustrating is that? Surely easy for HTC to up the battery before it hits the stores?

They should try to mass market this phone by next year. This has mass market appeal similar to what RiM did to their BlackBerry Pearl and Curve. If it goes to AT&T, I hope they try to sell it for $99 before 2010. It would be a smart move for HTC to broaden their brand name.

It's better than Xperia by its design and features. HTC well processes with its 3D interface. Fast speed touch (very reflexive). But it should build up with 2 gsm sim slots and/or a memory card slot and it should also be thinner.

Can anyone answer this question???
If T-Mobile is getting this unit re-labelled as something else, would the unit not be quad band??? am I an idiot or do you need GSM 850Mhz for the best coverage in North America?

in all honesty, 4gb memory cards are usually the max capability of phones nowadays anyway. disadvantages would be no hot swapping and slow down when almost full, but capacity itself wouldn't be a problem for larger number of users. my other opinions on it: hate the tacky back design; decent cam specs but any sort of flash would eliminate any gripes; and, imho, overall design doesn't have as much mass-appeal as the original htc touch...despite this, it's an incredible phone I hope to be able to afford one day...T_T

It is shaped like an mp3 player. Like a Zune or an iPod with a smaller scroll wheel. Looks cool. Makes every past HTC phone look prehistoric or a brick. I like the direction they are going with their UI. Still kinda lags though.

Is seems to be a quite expensive phone; in the netherlands you can pre-order it for 529,- euro's that's approximately 821,- american dollars...but it may worth it, it looks like a very good phone with great features. Only the battery and no additional memory is a pity.

Its gonna be a Tmobile exclusive. T-mobile is calling it MDA II or something. It looks okay. A little disappointed with HTC only announcing one device. I was hoping for more devices. The Touch Diamond looks up to par I guess. It is what we expect from HTC since they won the smartphone world over with the Touch and the Touch Cruise.
