iOS on the rise in the US, Android continues European conquest - read the full textNo one doubted that the iPhone 5 launch will be big, but it turned out so big that it slowed the growth of Android in the US and the UK, according to Kantar World Panel. The rest of the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy and Spain) saw just the opposite - Android's share went up, iOS went down. It...

It is interesting that we only see a rise in the US and the UK. Maybe the Android phones are stuffed with bloatware that the carriers stick into these phones. Bloatware that make users less satisfied with Android...

IMO, the reason of the decreased percentage of Android in US is the issue on banning Samsung and HTC devices.

The UI hasn't drastically changed, there is no homescreen, widgets nor eye candy animations which may cause the 3 year old iPhone 3GS to freeze and crash. iPhone has never been ahead of the pack, it's just the hype

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2012-10-31 22:14 from p77u - click to readThat tells me how terrible the software is. If it can run on a 3 year old phone, then you really aren't doing much with the software. And that is true becuase iOS has been the SAME since the first iphone came out. It is flat, boring, and stale.

At least you guys have the second place OS....Oh wait, that was the Americans again. At least you guys have Symbian . . . Oh wait, that company was started by a South African and the mobile OS was developed by a consortium European, American and Japanese companies.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this shares are only for the phones purchased in the given time period, right?
It would mean that even in the US there were more android than iS phones sold in the quarter.. just not as much as previously

Windows Phone 8 is too fast/extremely smooth and probably very stable like WP7.5 for people to ignore. Windows Phone finally has support from Verizon and T-Mobile in the US. Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, each only have one WP7.5 phone for sale. We all know Android is available on all main and prepaid carriers. WP support from the carriers had been bad, but not anymore with Windows Phone 8. That's the important key for gaining marketshare here in the US.

Anyway, in response to your little post, sure the Nexus 4 will get some people to buy it but they just confirmed that it will not have Wifi Calling. That is a major feature to not have. Hopefully this changes because that is a major game changer for this device. It seems to be losing alot of key features and that was one of them.

I was interested in the Nexus 4 until I heard this news. I was even willing to deal with no sd card slot (I was going to use a Flash Drive through USBOTG) but now it is getting ridiculous.

Sucks because the iPhone 5 is such an easy phone to beat. That phone was a complete disaster. It's even funny because an aquaintance of mine purchased one and is pissed that he can't jailbreak it yet due to the new processor.

Moral is, both the iPhone 5 and the Nexus 4 will suck.
