It could take Apple 12-18 months to break ties with Samsung

> In reply to dreck @ 2012-12-01 11:37 from u7GG - click to readget it right for god sake- 1 iphone is not a smartphone anymore than Nokia with it's e-series or n-series phones and they have been around for longer so it's not the real leader that would be Nokia closely follow by RIM at the time of the 2g,3g phones. 2 apple copied RIM's app icon design and Nokia's design pattern with the black back and silver banded edge among others, and LG KE850 Prada had a capacitive touchscreen before the iphone. 3 I have a 4s and it's still not a smartphone, it has smart apps like siri but that's not really smart PLUS it's constantly tethered to itunes with no other way to import and export music apps and others to and from PC's and other phones from different manufactures and it's a money magnet for Apple and app creators, I've never seen so many adverts in so many app including bought one on any other device OS. so in conclusion the only smartphone is a a phone that makes calls, that's all of them... AS FOR COPYING LOOK AT HOW MUCH APPLE HAS COPIED FROM OTHERS.. Just remember Apple will fall and maybe the next smartphone giant will come from China or Belgium at a third of the price, Who knows!!!! Wishful thinking

apple is leader in smart phones from the starting point when they launched their first iphone 2g. samsung just copied apple's app, design and lot more. apple made its image in very short period of time through the computers to ipad. apple made people to use touch screen phones at the time when other companies including samsung use to launch button phones.
apple has its own brains it can handle all the difficulties by itself without one's opinion or help

Apple is Apple, Samsung is Samsung, both corporations concerned with profits. You enjoy their products, buy it. Samsung doesn't love you, Apple doesn't love you. Fighting on behalf of either company, as an insignificant comment in a website comment section does nothing lol.

The sooner American companies like Apple and Microsoft goes down,,,,,, the better!!!! Federal America controls many patents that should have benefited all mankind yet they keep it to themselves so smaller countries have no chance of innovating.

There is a world of difference between: "inventor" and "innovator". Apple and Samsung are: "innovators" in the main. They take things ALREADY invented and re-design, re-shape and enhance. Neither 'invented' touch screens, batteries, semi-conductors, plastic, glass, etc. But where I believe Apple are taking the piss, is with ridiculous lawsuits. If you wrote a song and Apple made it into a ringtone, then Samsung did the same. Should Apple then be able to sue Samsung for: "infringement"? Didn't Apple have to pay $21 million to the Swiss Railway recently for using their clockface without permission? A case of the Apple-pot calling the Samsung-kettle black. We'd still be driving Model T Fords if there was no copying. Companies need to stop trying to be: "Electronic Hitlers" and get a life already.

This story is told wrong. The true is that Samsung has put the boot in Apple's face. Samsung Displays announced that will not manufacture displays from 2013.
Apple always tried to reduce their dependence on Samsung but is hard to find someone able to manufacture at Samsung's price, quality and quantities. Samsung is their prime supplier for flash memories, displays and cpus. At least at this point TSMC is not able to take over the entire production for cpus.
The displays were just the first step. Hard times ahead for Apple. The other OEMs will take their revenge and negotiate higher prices, speculating the situation.

> In reply to Droid is the Best @ 2012-12-01 04:47 from uBSg - click to readWhat you used were launchers trying to imitate the look not the experience of Windows phone. So you are very much off the mark. But its true that Android can be whatever it wants to be. MIUI uses framework of iOS and extends it to include the functionality of Androids widgets. While Windows Phone 8 is VERY smooth and light, Android has achieved the same with Jellybean (I can testift its smoothness as I run Jellybean on my HTC Desire and I have never felt this good, mind it on an outdated hardware). Android doesn't need to be Windows. Android needs to be more simple for laymen, and for that Manufacturers should try to incorporate simplicity like iOS and MIUI (Android) by Xiaomi Corp. In the end, however, I believe Android is clear winner in long run.
