Samsung will also offer a universal pocket extension that clips to any pant or short pocket so you can carry your small monster of a phone around without the need for a small backpack!
It would be really sad to see a sgs4 fall a split out all its cores but the plastic screen would still remain 'intact' ! :p
AnonD-79543, 06 Dec 2012I love when people used to love and praise the glass display but suddenly turn to be plastic-f... moreSimple question. When dropped, which is more likely to cover its bruises well? It's all well and good saying 'ooooh look, glass!' Like an alzheimers ridden magpie but fact is that even the types of plastic being used in high end phones are much more able to get the best out of the performance and durability.
I have a rather dull friend who (unbeknown to me) has an iPhone 5 and an S3. He got out of his car and dropped both of them, which do you think came out looking better and still worked properly?
hope this plastic will be scratch proof,,! and GS4 build quality Great..
I wish the new Samsung Galaxy S IV would have at least 12 MP Camera and HDMI port because Samsung haven`t made a phone with HDMI port yet.
[deleted post]Nokia, Samsung, and HTC all use polycarbonate on their flagship phones. If you are saying Nokia's polycarbonate is higher grade plastic than Samsung's polycarbonate... You need to go back to school. They are the same grade. How can one be higher grade than the other????
AnonD-49327, 06 Dec 2012Nah I'm sure you're much much more knowledgeable. I just manage R&D projects which require... morethats awsome..who would think i'd end talking about this stuff with someone over a cellphone forum??? lol.
plastic is it. plastic is today/tomorrow..metal is yesterday. I did a lot of studies about flexible screens, and OLED/AMOLED screens as well... the phone game is going to be ENTIRELY different in the next 5 years...
technology is definitely exciting.. every company is doing thier own bit in making advancements.
To those who thinks plastic sucks..lets not forget that even bullet proff glass is made up of layers of PLASTIC and glass. And they still crysyal clear. So having plastic screen in s4 makes sence if they want it to be unbreakable.
Unbreakable Screen huh.. But is it scratch resistant??
just like gorilla glass Scratch resistant but not shatter free.. Hmmmmmmm >:)
I love when people used to love and praise the glass display but suddenly turn to be plastic-fanatics.

On the topic. I honestly think plastic will be the trend (good stuff. Not plastic bags.) To simply say "plastic" may be misleading. The technology is improving in leaps and it's a very broad field. We're seeing it now in areas previously reserved for metals like guns and carbon fiber bodies in sport cars.
htc is the unique innovative corporation, the best phones, incredible characteristics... look at the droid dna, the first with a 1080p display resolution.
Samsung - Make me a small version of this, a true mini. Not a 4'' phone with mini in its name. Something along the lines of the Pre, or the Veer, and I will buy this.
AnonD-49327, 06 Dec 2012I just happen to be doing the stuff now. :-)ahah awsome! what are you studying? i'm a material's engineer with a specialization in nanomaterials.. so i studied semiconductors and composites etc (but i hated the electrical stuff).. but after i left school, i kind of just left it aside lol.
but yea.. so when all these monkeys talk about how nokia lumia has cheap plastic, or how amazing the plastic in SG3 is, i know exactly how stupid they are.
AnonD-80584, 06 Dec 2012ahah holly jesus man! i haven't done that stuff in almost 5 yrs! great to see that you're know... moreI just happen to be doing the stuff now. :-)
Ask yourself how many percent of aluminum/glass iPhones actually end up covered in premium fancy PLASTIC cases (expensive too). :-)
AnonD-49327, 06 Dec 2012Yes No one brought up anything thermal. Since you mentioned expansion I might as well bring up... moreahah holly jesus man! i haven't done that stuff in almost 5 yrs! great to see that you're knowlegable about such things..alot of people just bash, but you're asking the right questions.
In order to determine the level of conductivity, you have to determine number of free electrons per unit of volume. The higher this "n" number, the higher the conductivity. Unfortunately, i cant give you too much more specific than that without referring to my books loll.
And the last one was supposed to be water resistant. Hey, you sure it's gonna be called either 4 or IV? 4 is the number of death in Asia, nobody names their phones a "4" over there.
