After too much hassle to do it on my own, I went down to an authorized dealer and they did it for me, free of charge, as being covered by guarantee. It took them about an hour and now I feel that I have a new phone. Absolutely worth it, the new UI is very fast and butter smooth.

Updated to v30a. Absolutely satisfied with UI speed. But battery now drains from 100% to 20% in 12 hours while it took the same drain took around 24 hours in Gingerbread with similar usage. I wonder if its due to wifi constantly searching for new networks even after getting connected to one with excellent signal strength

Upgraded my O2X to 4.0.4 yest. Got to say the UI is amazing. LG have done an amazing job. Super fast. No lags. But yeah facial lock is missing. And no in-build chrome browser. Loving my 2x. Would have been a lot better if they releases it a lot earlier. My last LG for sure.!! They do release excellent devices. Optimus G kinds. But without software upgrades phone becomes useless.!! "G" is yet to receive its 4.1.!!

I updated the phone manually with v30a wich is for Romania. Is very smooth but in multitasking have lags...
With Gingerbread 2.3.4, Antutu benchmarks scored 5700 points and with ICS 4.0.4 i have 6500 points...

Gave my lg p990 a new lease of life.. it really needed this ICS upgrade to show me what its capable of :) I am loving it ..

I wasted a lot of my time upgrading at home.. but i feel its easier to take a bike ride to LG service station and pay 100 odd rupees.

Bangalore one is at Jayanagar 4th block..
