Each company first gets the Android update from Google, then customizes it for respective UIs in each company. Like Samsung customizes Android with Touchwiz & then several modifications for several devices. Sameway, HTC does customizations for Sense UI & then modifications for several devices. Because of a large no. of Android devices, it becomes difficult to release updates very quickly. Android devices have different variants all over the world. Apple has more or less 4-5 devices which are same worldwide.
