Metal offers superior fit and finish...colours like yellow blue and red give great looks to the phone...n8 is the best example for this....but save for some little dents!

Nokia should come out with atleast 2 new form factors to give a variety to the consumers...

1.Bar
2.Detatchable Display and Keypad in Nokia E7 model
3.Nokia N95 Slide up will be too good.

Having rights to customize WP-OS Nokia should quickly start differentiating from other Players.

TO start with Nokia can try to push a software upgrade for Symbian Belle users to convert the icon UI to Tile UI. Then the switch over to Lumia is highly viable...

Where is jack the reaper Now?
Same specs is a pretty bad Idea. Way too bad. I expect a 1080p phone with Quad core cpu and 2GB Ram and a massive battery. Anyhow wp doesn't have 1080p support yet but It should be given via next update. Otherwise Nokia is so dead.

Don't think alumimum is a bad choice.the build and the feel that u get out of a metal casing is umatched.plus the phone becomes lighter as well as thinner.htc one s and xperia p r great examples and i felt both had a more premium build than their highend brothers the one x n xperia s respectively.
As for the interference with the antenas, there can be use of some plastic strip on the top or bottom.
Polycarbonate is also a great material but i think nokia should have atleast one handset in their lineup that is diffrent from the crowd seeing that they've made superbly well built phones in the past like n8,c7,x7 etc all using anodised aluminum.

I have a suggestion. . They should also use Kevlar(like motorola). .or better, Carbon Fiber. As far as i can remember Ip4 or 4S has DeathGrip issues right? IDK about the X7,C7-00 and C6-01, but as far as i could remember , i dont see that kind of issues on Nokia phones with metal casing. . :)

Aluminium is never a good option for a smart phone with lots of antennas. Metals interfere with radio signals (faraday cage theory). Thats why most oems use plastic. I think poly carbonate is best and most suited. Fyi polycarbonate plastic is used to build air crafts and rocket spare parts. So highly unlikely that we will see a metal lumia , atleast not with the same design .

The aluminum should be anodized like N8 not an ordinary aluminum like iPhone 5. :)

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-01-04 04:51 from kg3U - click to readNokia has no where near the best signal and i don't think they ever had. Sony Ericsson was always better. And my two samsung phones were both better than my xperia pro. And the pro was better than n900 which was better than n9,, and on the bottom comes my htc. And for wifi also, samsung exynos based phones are the best for wifi and cellular, Nokia N9 is the weakest phone i have used in regards to wifi and the cellular signaldegraded until it was zero. Signal died in less than a year. Quality? Nokia have bad antennas, they should do like certain other brands and hire some expertise on this matter.

Now having the strongest signal isn't everything, Nokia n-series where known to have a good and stable signal, but we have to ask why didn't Nokia extend this to feature phones, all cheap Nokias get blown away by the antenna designs of samsung E1080 and E1200, and those cost twenty dollars...

I have studied high frequency technology and i know a thing or two about this. Antenna design is very complicated and Nokia doesn't master it.

Metal case dissipates heat better than plastic. That will help phone performance and battery life. Probably this is why Apple turned to metal case for many of its products.
