So there we have it. WP8's '5 times as many Christmas sales compared to 2011's Christmas sales' indeed looks to be nothing much more than a whole ~5 million Windows Phone phones sold in a whole quarter, pretty much the figure I came to yesterday in the related article. Microsoft must be so extremely proud...

This android fanboys are off the limit. Yep, we all know android leads the market and wp needs to work hard to catch up. That's what happenned to Android. When symbian and BB used to rule then came Android. They build an ecosystem and Bam they overtake Symbian in No time. WP is a much more advanced OS than anything in the market and it's growing fast. If wp turns out to be a Good ecosystem, then Nokia and HTC will soon become leaders. We all know that the future lies in WP. There is no future for apple and When Samsung will be moving towards Tizen, there won't be any future for Android. And by the way, That HTC phones running WM 6.5 was one of the Most revolutionary and Ground breaking smartphone ever and that can run Android 4.2 and Wp8.

> In reply to Xperia Zucks @ 2013-01-10 18:00 from t1$F - click to readdude.. dont compare a company who is basically building thier sales from scratch with a brand new OS to an OS that is 5+ years old. Compare these sales to android and samsung when they first started. in 1.5 years... samsung and android didn't even have 0.5% of these lumia sales.
secondlly, the lumia 920 only got released in india and many asian markets this week... these numbers are only for a few markets where are the samsung sg3 was released in china and korea (most of thier sales). the SG3 is a plain JOKE in north america. It is now one of the mid-range phones... and not to mention it lags and freezes like CRAZY
... numbers dont mean its a better product either so i suggest you stop comparing the two.

Ask Nokia to show sales structure, not just the number. You will see real 2.2 sales, and fake 2.2 carriers in stock. Total 4.4 milliones. This is extremely low really. Even the lowest manufacturer in the world produce more phones.

> In reply to droopy @ 2013-01-10 17:54 from 8FBB - click to readunits on stock and not sold means units shipped. That is different to units sold. So you much not be interpriting the data you 'have' correctly.

Yes sure and it seems impossible for me to get a yellow lumia 920 from any uk online store sim free/unlocked (I live in malta, don't get me started on local availability). I've been waiting 4 months for this phone and I'm starting to doubt if it's worth it!!!

Grow up with your comments please...

I insist, i have INTERNAL nokia data that real sales are 2.2 lumias, and the rest is FAKE, it is carrier in stock units. In theory, Nokia issue a Proforma of pre-sales to carriers. So, thats how nokia shows 4.4 millions. There are 2 million in stock NOT SOLD on carriers. Most of that units i think will not sold in future. Remember nokia is offering WP8 phones cheap due to low sales. Elop, please do not use old marketing tricks to promote Nokia. Nowadays Samsung Galaxy S4 is the TOP1 phone of 2013. (8 cores)
