Because nokia doesn't want make fragmentation apps like android, nokia prefer nHD. Anyway, my 808 screen was better than another phone. Said by my friends with samsung s3 and iphone 5. They say my nokia 808 are DSLR killer too.

Symbian was my first step into the smartphone era. I had the good luck to have used almost all of its different iterations over the years. While it wasn't the prettiest OS around, it was quite functional, and S60v5 introduced the world to the concept of decent screen resolutions in usable formats.

That's it, I've said some good things at the funeral. I'll always remember Symbian with fondness.

As for the Pureview, while it was a great swansong for Symbian, I also think that it was a bad decision. The N8 was a great way to end things, and that was the point when Nokia should have jumped ship. The sheer awesomeness of the Pureview camera deserved a more concurrent platform, like Windows Phone.

Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish!

> In reply to Suhanoo @ 2013-01-26 07:21 from uWje - click to readSymbian belle really has nothing from Android quite nothing! If it has a top bar, that means that is android?:)) Everything in Belle is Symbian, from top to bottom. And has some similarities with Maemo and meego. And all were under Nokia development. Android stole allot of ui from iphone who stole allot from palm OS and BlackBerry. Meltimi/Maemo and Symbian were also at the base of android stealing business. So, in fact, android copied allot. Quite allot!! From UI till the way of doing things, till music player interface... And not vice-verse.

I have used and loved Symbian OS, until they ruined it in Belle. Till Anna I was in love with Symbian. Now I have moved to Samsung Android, better than Belle - the wanna-be Android. I feel sorry for the Symbian lovers, my deep sympathy for them (including me). Nokia has some moledroid (mole who is working for Android) inside and (s)he/they are making Nokia go down with Windows OS. But who the hell am I to say anything? Anyway, today I mourn for Symbian, my beloved companion for the last 7 years (till 6600). Rest In Peace, my friend. For me, I'll still keep N8-ing until N8 dies, that will be my last Symbian, not PV808.

This is so unfair for Symbian. I don't want to see Symbian just in a form of history in the coming years! :(

I'm pretty sure that all the SMARTphone users(I mean the REAL smartphone users like me) knows that ALL THAT SYMBIAN LACKS is NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS.
Symbian is a very good competitor.

You know what guys, I own a Cyan Nokia Lumia 800. I love it but not totally. You may ask why.

- 16GB isn't enough
- It can't match the versatility of Symbian in every way.
- Battery life
- Low and not so clear speaker sound. My C5-06 is better. :(
- The camera UI is sooooo simple.

What I like about thw WP OS:
- Messaging. It really impressed me.!
- Modern UI and the Live Tiles. It's so unique.!
- SNS integration all throughout the OS. THIS IS UNMATCHED by any other OS. PERIOD. (I've used iOS and Android that's why I can fairly compare it)
- Their very own Facebook and Twitter app. It blends with the Modern UI. ^____^
- People Hub and Me Tile is so FUNCTIONAL.

Other than that, none. Everything else can be found in the Symbian OS. Symbian can do a lot of things that Windows Phone can't, and that's a FACT. :(
But we must all remember that WP is not an open source OS that's why. But they can do it, right? Can't they? Duh.

I don't know why but I can say my Nokia C5-06 is better than my Nokia Lumia 800 in some ways, speaking of what a REAL Smartphone OS should be.

Don't get me wrong, I so love my Lumia 800 and Windows Phone. It is classy but I guess the Classic Symbian OS is simply better than it. Symbian is made to fit for the word "Smartphone". I love how Symbian handles everything under the hood.

If I'm not mistaken, Symbian will be supported until 2016 right?
I wanted to see Jolla create a Symbian Smartphone after Nokia ditched it. But there are two things:

Symbian is still under Nokia until 2016. They can produce but.....(read Second:)

Sailfish OS is also an open source OS so if Jolla will also adapt Symbian, it's kind of redundant, eh? They'll kill each other and Sailfish may not emerge successful bec. of that and Jolla wouldn't want that to happen of course.

So long my friend Symbian. I didn't expect to see you like this bec. I believe Symbian's downfall is also Nokia's downfall simply bec. Nokia is Nokia bec. of Symbian. :'(

Windows Phone just holds a 3rd place in my geeky heart and mind. 1st is Symbian and second is MeeGo.!

Good-luck Nokia. As a tribute for the GREAT SYMBIAN, I'll buy a Nokia 808 PureView this year. I love you Symbian.! :')

Speaking of Elop, I SO HATE YOU.! :-X

Symbian will always be one of the best OSs out there... I'm using a Droid now...But I'll use a Symbian device anytime, anywhere... I've used a lot of Symbian devices since 2003... I started with a 7650, 6630,, N90, N73, N95, N95 8gb, N96 and lastly the awesome N8... IMO, Symbian still rocks! :-)

> In reply to Regedit @ 2013-01-25 09:12 from PTij - click to readProfits are always split. Into owners pockets and into development. And Nokia paid allot for development, unlike others.

Nokia does not need a trend. Nokia is a legend not a "Let's make money and run" crap OEM.

Nokia had internet tablet's running Maemo way before iphone or itab, icrap, samsteal were born;). Take a better look: N810 WiMAX Edition, N800, 770, N810.

Nokia had all it's factories in Europe, while others were pushing 5 euros made in china devices at 300% higher prices, 300% is low. Get the picture? While others were making money from crapp Nokia paid money for development and for their workers.

Since when is s40 doomed?:)). It's selling like hot cakes girl.

Now, you name that s60 from whatever Oem better then Nokia. And i refer to the same year and same period of release, not after 2 years. Like n70 is better then 3650... I wander why:-?. Cause if not. I can easily say that 808 can take a dump on it;).

Today you have learned something. You are a 2 seconds smarter girl/boy/kid. Whateva'
