Strategy Analytics: Apple top phone maker in US for Q4 - read the full textAndroid and iOS are locked in a tug-of-war that has been going on for a few years and competing OSes are falling to the wayside. Samsung (the biggest Android player) and Apple (the only iOS gadget maker) are busy fighting it out too and Strategy Analytics is keeping score. In the US, Apple...

Apples such called iPhones are being crushed by Samsungs Galaxy S series only, so think again if you say that there is some competition between Android and Apple.

p.s. nokia is a sinking ship and apple is trying(but no success yet)to fix their hole in the ship so...

> In reply to David @ 2013-02-02 08:47 from s7xF - click to readThe thing I really do NOT understand is the exorbitant prices owners are willing to pay

I am really happy with SAMSUNG as I know via GSMarena I have the better phone which cost less

So if iPhones cost were based on specifications, I would understand that, where I 'lose it' is that the action go against economics ie getting a bargain

The question I would ask is what do you think you are getting by paying the high price?

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-02-01 16:53 from PG5Y - click to readsamsung allready impressed everyone with galaxy s1, s2, s3 and the note 1 and 2... They have nothing to worry about. If the SGIV is a flop which i doubt, then they have note 2 and note 3 as backup. S3 and their low end phones are still selling well just to let u know.

Another thing, samsung doesnt just impress everyone with specs, they also add alot of features and usefull hardware in their phones, such as big batteries, SD support, removable batteries and choices of 16,32,64gb of internal storage. Not many high end phones have been out that has all those usefull features in a phone.

This article is number-fudging. In fact Apple is being crushed.
The competition is between IOS vs Android, not iphone vs samsung or some other maker. It doesn't matter who makes the shiny metal object - samsung, LG, or somebody else.

Stats that do matter:
Sales: android (152M in Q4 2012) is selling 3:1 over ios (only 47M in Q4 2012).
Market Share: android (70.1% Q4 2012) is 3:1 again over ios (22% in Q4 2012).
The rest is spin.
Apple deserves this trouncing because it censors content and blocks free speech - including political speech - such as blocking antiwar and political cartoon apps. Maybe they should just move to China - both are so much alike. RIP Apple.

everyone has to remember there is very few apple phones,

android there are 10 in every manufacture bell, telus, fido, koodo, t-mobile, Verizon, etc.. list goes on,, so really the majority of sales android "samsung" should be selling more units because they have very cheap android phones and up,,, so if when apple sells more phones here and there that is actually incredible for apple because there are basicly selling only the iphone 4, 4s, 5 mostly the 4s and 5

well done apple. No surprise. In Canada apple is the most popular phone brand. Followed by Samsung. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Apple has sold more phones every year since 2007.

haters can really "suck on it." They really can.

> In reply to EosAkroyiali @ 2013-02-01 15:39 from vwuX - click to readonce again people outside tend to think that iphone is an expensive phone. in usa iphone 5 is priced same as sgs 3 or latest windows phone on 2 yr contract plan. that's why more people buy iph5. i m sure most people in eu n asia will do so if their carrier priced the same way. i am so surprised when i went to asia and eu, people think iph is cool. here in nyc it is just an another touch phone that everyone can afford
