Strategy Analytics: Apple top phone maker in US for Q4 - read the full textAndroid and iOS are locked in a tug-of-war that has been going on for a few years and competing OSes are falling to the wayside. Identical to Blackberry's strategy that almost killed them. In the mean time, Nokia, Sony, and unbelievably Blackberry has come with fresh designs and innovative features. That's why I said if Samsung is to survive, SGS4 better impress, and not just with specs.

The A6x processor already trash samsung octa core before it was even announced.
The A6 processor is a highly customized dual core cortex A15 processor that allows a 4 inch device to have similar or better battery then a quad core s3.. And out performs it.

Only noob geeks look at plain specs and comments. Do research first.

I like how most comments on this are android vs iOS but the original post isnt about the OS but the manufacturer.... So anyone saying "no wonder android sold so many phones with all the different people making them" is not taking the time to read the post of even the header. It is not Android who is beating out Apple it is Samsung and Samsung alone.

There r people (and I know some of 'em) who would sell their tv or other important stuff to get an Iphone cos it's considered to be something "in vogue", they think if u own an Iphone u belong in with the hip n affluent crowd, it's a status n style symbol! They don't much care or understand about performance, specs or the fact that Apple's ripping 'em off royally, they just wanna blend in with the jet set and that's y they want an Iphone cos it's considered a status symbol! This explains a lot of Apple's big numbers in the US! However, the more conscious and witty folks prefer droids and el cheapos prefer feature phones!

Have to look at the people who has iphones as well - some work at mcdonalds and the like. I think paying off your debts or bills is more important than buying an iphone. Seems some people's priorities are else where (and the same people will moan about how broke they are).

Totally Agree

Samsung...

Galaxy ACE, Galaxy SG3, Galaxy NOTE 2, Galaxy DUOS, Galaxy PLAYER (many more Galaxys to mention)

If we count in more android OS wagons we need to include also LG (all models) motorola (all models) Sony (all Models) HTC (all models) Pantech, Acer, Huawei, Alcatel......uffff you mention somethin more on my listing the numbers are ENDLESS XD

No wonder why Android are dominating the market specially on Europe and Asia BUT Apple does a great job just because

Apple

iPhone, iPod, iPad

And that's it, is amazing the market, and apple (over all heaters) is doing a good job, is not only making an phone is making an style of living creating a phone for those that don't care numbers, or cores, or big screens, or RAM or bluetooth sharing or pixels or anything that make Android users proud, they are making only fashion phones...and guess what!!!

They stay on market and in just the US Market they still giving to Android a good fight in round numbers and iOS don't suffer from fragmented market like Android and thats a good thing for Phone users because compatibility is warranted :D

> In reply to John @ 2013-02-01 14:33 from p3D$ - click to readGood way of looking at it (Samsung maybe getting on to more like 30 models soon with the way they keep popping these generic smartphone babies out)

Apple will always win in terms of value. Won't change until people realise that iphone is not worth the premium Apple is demanding.

> In reply to John @ 2013-02-01 14:33 from p3D$ - click to readYes, Apple does win, by a long margin.

However, there problem is the WOW factor associated with Apple and IOS has taken a beating and another year of IOS without a major revamp will damage the brand badly.

Also, Apple's success in US is replicated to a smaller extent in the UK but Android has dominated rest of the world. That is a risk for them

We have to be honest with one thing...samsung sales aroun 12 models...an apple have just one, as number of pieces sold...samung has a little more than apple but they models aroun 200-450$...iphone 5 is aroun 600$ so as value i think apple wins :)

> In reply to Aparadectos @ 2013-02-01 14:09 from pVMY - click to readcustomers don't(most of them) but companies care more about profits then about customers (which company has a good customers service. from my experience none).
In past couple of years Samsungs growth was dedicated to a anti-Apple campaign(design of SGS to the marketing solutions from the company). People who hate Apple for any reason would buy Samsung products. Then again Samsung has good product(but from my aspect bad design) just like Apple. This is why for example HTC missed when they launched their product and didn't put any effort in marketing(no adds or anything), they thought that their flagships that were ahead of the competition would sell well( Sensation and One X).
