Grrr...!!! Went to MediaWorld today, here in Italy. The cell phones have not arrived. The people behind the counter were suitably embarassed and apologetic. They had one I could try out, however. I liked the vibration feedback. Nice surprise: The stylus attached to the phone via a lanyard. It's not the best solution, but I thought: "Better than having to fish for it while it lolls about in the bottom of a pocket or in a holster." I didn't feel the need to use it, however. The touch screen worked fine. I'd probably reserve it for hand-writing notes.

it's a nice deal. it's a win-win situation for samsung and microsoft. samsung will certainly boost sales with this promo and microsoft will get their products to the hands of those people who dont want the xbox. i hope sony will bundle PS3 with the xperia.. now that is a great deal.

Xbox doesn`t distribute games on HD dvd format, HD DVD players are, externally to you`re 360 sold as an extra. Now that HD dvd seem to have flopped I wouldn`t be surprised if Microsoft were to release a external Blu-Ray player. So, no reason not to go for a free arcade, except that the phone is a Samsung.

Just gleaned the following from

"Today I heard some news though, that comes as something of a disappointment. Apparently Samsung are not going to release the 16GB version of the Omnia in the UK, only the 8GB version.

We now have official pricing for the 8GB unit. It will be 399 + VAT, with first stock arriving 18th August."

So there you have it if you're waiting for the Omnia in the UK - can't believe they're not releasing the 16GB version. Let's hope they're not going to do the favourite trick of record companies and six months down the line release it with extra tracks i.e. extra memory. Wouldn't put it past them......

Hi, again.

To answer the question from Argentina: It looks like it's in Italy right now. You can check it out at: (Italian site.)

To answer Striker: It seems like it's a combination MediaWorld/Samsung offer. But I have to say: I checked out the review of the Xbox 360 Arcade on They don't recommend it. I wonder if the giveaway is part of a larger strategy: To get consoles into hands that would never have bothered - thus increasing game sales. (Like Polaroid cameras were just a way to sell Polaroid film.) Eventually the HD DVD format will go the way of Betamax. Toshiba has abandoned HD DVD development in the race with Blu-ray. If I'm not mistaken, Xbox 360 games are distributed on HD DVD media. Am I syncical? Oh yes.

At any rate: I hoped my posts were helpful. I don't want to divert the conversation thread away from the main topic: The Omnia.

I see an i900 in my future - inviting giveaway notwithstanding.

Cheers, all...

Ah of course, its a retailer giving away the 360's not Samsung. All makes sense now.

Come on UK retailers lets see you take note. And no rip-off dial-a-phone style "giveaways" either!
