Wouldn't it be wonderful if customers could buy just a phone (as a hardware) and than choose which OS they want to install on it. That way you could have Lumia 920 with Android, Xperia Z with MeeGo or any other conceivable combination. That way we probably wouldn't have usual forum troll-wars. It would be closest to world peace humanity is ever going to get.

Well I must believe until I see it working, world is full of good ideas, but not all works in order, so, maybe this can be a DOA at any time.

Linux is not doing that good on desktops, so, this is not guarantee this will work on mobile either..

Sad but true....and Android is very hard to beat and also they need to seduce the developers to make good apps.

No it won't. A virus built for one operating system won't work on another.

Apple has been in the recent past a dominant giant, but with the rise of Android, it was toppled. With the rise of Ubuntu, Apple is walking on slippery grounds akin to BB. UBuntu will indeed tear the skies....big up.

seems it would be interesting, and obviously "one of a kind" from surrounding.
But wondering, will Android's virus works on Ubuntu mobile?

Does this effectively mean that Ubuntu will be able to run on any arm7 45nm OMAP4460 SoC's? The Kindle Fire HD and the Huawei P1 fall into this category too. Maybe the SGS2 and SGNote can also run this?

I hope this os is released for more than the Galaxy Nexus.

I really don't want to buy that phone just to try this out.

That phone has no SD card slot. I'm not sure about if it has a removable battery but I just hope this Ubuntu Mobile Rom is released for a phone with SD cards and a removable battery such as the Gs3 or Note.

Has anybody started a thread over at Xda about trying to get the Rom on other devices?

> In reply to Antiguan @ 2013-02-07 14:57 from R0Ky - click to readDont get me wrong , I am hoping for that to happen ... BB 10 OS reminds me of MeeGo so much . I wish that my N9 had more of useful apps ... hope that developers make more of BB 10 OS than it happened with MeeGo. Even Ubuntu for mobile has something MeeGoish in it . I hope that android and BB 10 OS become the two competing OSes , because Apple makes it hard for creative ideas to get to the end user - with those god damn patent violation lawsuits !
