HTC One will reportedly be M7's name when it goes official - read the full text It appears that the M7 name which HTC's chairman Peter Chou shouted last week might only be an internal moniker. A fresh report has emerged from Twitter's highly accurate tipster @evleaks, pointing that the upcoming Taiwanese flagship will simply be named HTC One when it goes official in less...

Good move. Just like how Samsung sticks with its Galaxy name, but it may be too little too late.

I doubt this phone will have removable storage or removable battery, although personally I'm happy with my One X+ which has neither although it kinda sucks they're likely replacing it after only 3 months, reminds me of Apple and the 3rd Generation iPad. Unless you root it, removable storage is only for storing photos and music not apps, while HTC is clearly going for durability with their unibody designs. People may say "they're copying Apple", but the One X is built like a tank compared to the Galaxy S3 and the older iPhones (iPhone 5 was released after the S3 and One X, and is said to be more durable but not sure how they compare). Droid DNA and Butterfly are pretty good in durability but there were some Taiwanese users who dropped and shattered it it and were ranting to the media about HTC not repairing it. Don't know if the reports are true because Taiwanese news has a tendency to sensationalize this stuff.

After I buy the SIV(which I hope comes in black ^^) i think I'll chill out till late 2016 where smartphones are concerned.

I moved from my 2009 nokia to the S3 and I'm not gonna change it until the SVI hits the market
Or another competitive if there'll be a stronger one =)

Having the latest gadgets only inflates your ego and not your knowledge on electronic devices or any thing in general for that matter.

Its people like you I would come across almost every day..flashing their newest and latest smartphone or tab and not knowing half a shyt about it.

Now thats not bad really but when they start to call themselves a techie thats where I call bs and prove to them they dont know the stuff they claim to know by using features they didnt even know their devices had or could acquire.

In the most severe cases I'm even able to use an older version of the new device they have and make it just as functional as their 2 week old 'world's best device'

Use your brains if you think that they name it bad the "One" is series just like "Galaxy" and if they named it Two it would be new serie of phones

their previous phone was htc one x, they should have named it htc two x n next flagship as htc three x n the series should go on further... it was best way to carry on for htc but they choose bad way for naming it...their naming system is worst...

I have the S3 and the HTC J Butterfly. I like the butterfly more than the S3 but the S3 is a great phone as well.

I want a HTC M7 or whatever they want to call it only if its a 5" phone.

I will be buying the M7 and the S4 because I am a techie lol.

If thery go with the name "One" or (1) they should name their other two devices "Two" (2) and "Three" (3) and next year the same, for example 2014 One, 2015 One, ect...

This doesn't make any sense, why would HTC give a name to this model, that they were already using on the ONE series....

M series would be much more appropriate, or any other name not in use by them already.
Letter and Number is much more easy way to "grade the phones"

Yep, i love HTC and the One S etc but i agree that this new generation should have been say M7. It doesn't make all that much sense to call it one. If it were a single phone in that series yes but not after all the One, ++ SV etc have all come out. I'm in no hurry, the One S is going just fine.. Coolio... Anyway, hope the new dude is good but please get the marketing right.

> In reply to smorg @ 2013-02-09 11:48 from mx}A - click to readHTC has a horrible marketing dept. First, they should choose ONE name to be their flagship device, and stick with it. It's called 'name recognition.' We all know the Galaxy S or iPhone for this reason. Secondly, Why name your flagship 'One' when there's already a 'One X'? I tried HTC's Sensation & was disappointed by the sound of recorded videos. I keep trying to like HTC, but they just don't get the most basic things. Sammie it is.

Tegra 3 devices are truly amazing, even feature phones with embedded 156MHz processors will not hang half a second on text input, but quadcore devices like HOX and HOX+ does? Amazingly slow, hard to believe for those who havent tried.

I liked the name M7 better too but these number behing letters are stupid anyway:
Nexus 4 - Oh, it must be a 4" phone! Nope! It's 4.7"
Nexus 7 - There must be a catch! is it 7.8"? NO DUMMY! It has a 7" dispaly! Hence the number 7!
Nexus 10 - lemme guess! 10"? Yep, now you got the idea!
HTC M7 - Oh, wait, I know it! A 7" tablet, right? Wrong! 4.7" phone!

WTF HTC? Why would you call it HTC One when the One x, s, xl, v and X Plus already exist and imply that they are better?
