How much differences do you see between iPhone OS and iOS and how many visible changes are there for the normal users?

Then you look at Android 1.6 and then look at Android 4.2.2. How many visible changes are between those Android versions?

It's pretty obvious on who are getting developed and not getting developed.

For all we know the next iteration of iOS could blow everyone's socks off. But I agree if iOS 7 fails expectations , it might see users looking to other alternatives.

Not only 7 inch, it sold more than any android tablet.

Which android maker sold more than 10 million tablets last quarter? There's your evidence :)

"Even as Samsung’s shipments more than tripled from a year earlier to 7.9 million units, the Suwon, South Korea-based company’s market share held steady at its third-quarter level of 15 percent, according to IDC. Cupertino, California-based Apple, which shipped 22.9 million iPads in the recent period"

And about ten millions of those was iPad mini, so theres your evidence :) apple sold more iPad mini's than biggest android tablet maker (samsung) their all tablets combined.

I did read that link about reliable phones. These are not number of phones sent back to manufacture for repair. These are how many people post problems on Fixya.
Apple had very good customer support for problems hence why most people would go to a apple care center rather than try and ask on Fixya.
Its also down to the type of people that buy different products.

No surprise iPhone by far most reliable phone.

"The report says that Apple's iPhone is three times more reliable than its closest rival, Korean firm Samsung,"

Symbian died because mobile markets changed completely, touch based OS was future, symbian couldnt handle that well, also third party apps was future. Symbian couldnt get those either.

IOS have both of those.

IOS doesnt need that kind of development what symbian needed, mobile markets havent changed anyhow, so markets doesnt need big changes like they needed when symbian died.

Like i said if in future someone can make something better than ecosystem and apps then iOS and android all others need big developments, now anyone of those doesnt need that.

Android have its own strenghts and also iOS have its own strenghts, so its matter of taste what you want. Symbian just didnt had strenghts after market changed after 2009. Well nokia had their name which carry them quite long.

It sold more than any invidual android maker their tablets combined last q.

Also it doesnt matter if low cost iPhone comes later because its already have same huge ecosystem. So just like iPad mini it has all the parts to be huge instant hit and im sure its going to be. Let's face it, like 60-70% android users would buy iPhone instead android if IPhone would be cheaper. Everyone who i know who have low cost android Phone bought it because iPhone was too expensive for them, not because android is better.

> In reply to Duel @ 2013-02-23 03:20 from p77u - click to readThere is a good reason to compare iOS to Symbian, because when iOS doesn't and Symbian didn't get developed, then they can be compared in many ways.

No, Symbian died because of no developments.

Peoples had already started to leave in masses from Symbian before iOS was released. So it wasn't directly iOS that made so many peoples to leave Symbian, it was because it was no development of the Symbian OSsoit could work much better. Peoples get bored of the OS if there isn't anything new to the OS after a while.

Well, Apple is going down in marketshare worldwide though. So where are Apple / iOS gonna sit in 3 years if their marketshare worldwide is still going down?

And remember that the peoples who are using iOS will suddenly get to a brick wall at one point. Suddenly, alot of iOS users will simply get fed up with iOS because of no developments. I already know many who are already in this boat, soApple is already on overdue.

And when this starts to happen for real, it's going to be dangerous for Apple. So Apple should do something with iOS before it's to late.

Low cost iPhone for sure is going to do same, and its going to be much better than 3GS.

LOL, what stupid bubble do you live in?"

Actually this guy have a point, if you are really following mobile news, you would know only samsung is doing very good with android. Yes android getting more and more marketshare while most android oems are in big trouble, for example htc just made worst quarter in six years. You are talking about how big android is and how fast it growing, but what is the cost of that? How long android oems can survivor when samsung collecting every money out of android? While others sells cheap android phones which doesnt give big profit, but gives that marketshare which you are talking.

What if htc one for example doesnt succeed? How long htc can take these very bad q results.

So just like i said, this guy have a good point, but its not because iOS, android have good change to destroy itself.

> In reply to Tom-Helge @ 2013-02-22 22:50 from 6kP6 - click to readIts pointless to compare symbian and iOS. Those are in totally different things and in different situations.

Symbian died because mobile market changed, it wasnt about product anymore, it was about ecosystem also good touchscreen and non laggy device made huge part ot success. Nokia didnt have those.

I dont see samekind of change, so if that change happens when something totally new comes in phone markets which make everything what is now irrelevant, then iOS and android might be in problem.

But for now apple have so many pieces of puzzle what today mobile markets are, so it doesnt look like iOS is going down, its going up up and up.

LOL, what stupid bubble do you live in?

And the fact that you don't think Apple can't get into Symbians footsteps is telling me that you love Apple / iOS to much to even see the real world on what actually can happen in the future.

Now you will likely say that this can happen to Android to. Yeah it can, but not in the same way as it can happen to iOS, because iOS isn't getting developed while Android is getting ALOT of development.

Symbian died because of no development and because the Symbian users got bored of no developments.

Explain to me how you expect iOS to not die when it's not getting developed atm?
