3GHz NovaThor L8580 CPU to debut on MWC 2013 floors - read the full textST-Ericsson unveiled their latest 2.5GHz NovaThor L8580 CPU earlier in this year, but the company is now readying to showcase an even faster version of the chip at MWC 2013. Using a SOI manufacturing process is going to make a big difference! This looks like it will be one excellent chip, and I believe the power consumption claims will be good. Remember, the clock frequency in all modern processors is dynamically adjusted anyway. One of the most power-efficient phones also on the market today is the Motorola RAZR i with Intel clocked at 2GHz, so imagine an ARM at 3GHz!

manufactures have prove that they can add ridoncelous power to the procesors wich in android is need it.

what users want and what we need is batterry power. it doesn't matter how much ram or cores or power they add if the batterry cannot stand more than 8 hrs. is not enought. we need baterry power... long lasting more than a day. thats what they should be focusing on power consumption.

Excuse me, is this a quadcore cpu? Guess not cos 3gh singlecore is still somewhat heavy for just a phone muchless 4 of it!

yes...yes...
The "frequency war ghz/mhz" is already end of the road
as what intel claims before....

Now time is too add more CPU technology....not the cpu clock....

More fragmentation for developers, users, and slower software updates. Great...

3GHZ CPU? who the hell need this? 1.2GHZ dual core is enough just like in iphone. even its is thz is useless if the os itself is not stable enough.

If this numbers are reliable than there is no compromise to be made here.

I'm really impressed at how fast mobile technology is progressing, but real progress for now will be the one who comes up with a new battery system!! Power is the future!
