I don't know what HTC was waiting for. I thought they were going to show some new devices, the only new device was announced before MWC.

So you mean to say companies like Samsung and HTC are innovative?

One thing is clear: since Nokia adopted WP it can not be innovative anymore, they are bellow the curve. Even they build less devices than before, they can not be efficient with WP!

All in all, MWC look so 2nd grade event nowaday. It couldn't secure any new secret flagship device announcement from major mobile manufacturer. What a shame to once a major event of the year...

Yeah just like the same old MWC last year...kinda disappointed..
and I agree with most of the people's comments here. Hope that they should make another MWC show (part 2) since its too early.. most of the new phones are coming out Q2-Q3 of the year.

Samsung needs apple to compete, otherwise it's just another electronic company

It was mostly an Alcatel's show. Yep, nothing really innovative, but good form, design and, really, I didn't expect to see something like this from TCL Communication (the manufacturer).

Why can't articles mention a product without declaring it an iDevice killer/competitor/etc.? The Note 8.0 is not an iPad Mini competitor - it is a notes device i.e. one can take it to meetings to take notes. I am a telecom architect and for me the Note devices are without competition as more than half of my meeting notes are diagrams. For this use case the iPad Mini is a dead brick. I was wishing for a Note type device before Samsung released the first one so this confirms that they are giving to the people what they really want and not telling the people what they want like Apple.
