People, the price quoted is for officially imported phones and carries around 10-15% premium tag. Bootleg phones will be around 750-800$ contract free.

Plus expect the price to fall by about 10% within a month. HTC One will sell well at 650-700$. It will definitely outsell S4 at a given price. S4 is all cool, but I doubt too many people will jump ship from S3 for .3 inch of screen with higher res, better CPU, and 13MP snapper. Just doesn't give you added value. A change in materials (see metal instead of plastic) might motivate some, but same plastic phone with higher specs, just does not justify the switch.

HTC on the other hand will separate itself due to premium materials, and people who actually have the money will buy it.

oh wow! seriously HTC? im looking forward to buy this phone when you release it but at that price???if it is true then sorry....ill go for iphone5 or Experia Z

As HTC One is SGS IV competitor it should cost as much as current SGS III cost. 30 thous is just crazy. It's more expensive than 16GB iPhone 5 which is considered premium. HTC is just not in Apple's position for such price.

If you factor in inflation and compare its price on todays mobile phone it will be a lot more...and those phone dont have 1/10 features of todays phones...technolgy is the reason why all people has access to mobile device rich or poor, technology not only improves the hardware/software of our mobile phone but also the process or creating it.

im sorry but all you hating the htc one but the sam note 2 is 549.99 GB sim free and built out of plastic, htc one's body takes 3 days to make and built out of one sold block of aluminium plus the days to put the rest in, reason for the heavy price tag. PLUS innovation for the TV app and alot more!plus htc are a small company not like samsung, nokia and sony. and yes iv ordered my htc one !

A grand for a 32GB non-expandable storage with only 2300mah of unreplaceable battery?!!!

The true price of this or any other high-end device is $600 or less not more.

S4 is coming out soon. Who needs these Old LCD phones I surprise. The main reason that we buy Smartphones is because their screen. So if the screen is of poor colors then What's the point? Better wait for brilliant AMOLED that will come on Galaxy s4. I guarantee you won't be dissapointed!
