Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean hits the Sony Xperia J - read the full textToday is a good day for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates after the AT&T One X and Micromax A110 Canvas receiving the good update news, now it's Sony Xpera J's turn. What about the Sony Xperia S? That's why Sony remains behind the competition because they lack technological innovation and care for their customers. If my Xperia S doesn't get any updates I will renounce Sony as a brand. A lot of my colleagues and friends ask my opinion about phones and have always been supportive of Sony since I have their phone.

You can even find FTFs and system dumps of it on XDA. Go there if you really need it.

> In reply to PiXeLaDo @ 2013-03-08 14:33 from LE1F - click to readI got myself an Xperia P. Nice phone, that one. But still, after I updated it to ICS, this pretty Xperia animated wallpaper that flows when you swipe between homescreens got totally static on ICS. And my friend's Xperia S after its ICS update kept the animated wallpaper but with so much lag that I was barely usable. Another update was issued later on, and the animation was brought back, but come on! It's an animated wallpaper, for crying out loud! Sony, you really suck at software development (get a Vaio, they said, it will come with plenty of useful software, they said!).

> In reply to Mario @ 2013-03-08 02:36 from JIwI - click to readI agree with all your points, except the part when you compare Android to iOS and Symbian (platform requirements are way too different).

JB would run just fine on the 2012 midrangers with proper optimizations (I should know, there are great JB roms for our 2011 Xperias), it's just sony being lazy and not optimizing their so-called "NXT UX" crap.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-03-08 16:42 from v0qJ - click to readExcuse me, why would you bash bada in this context? Samsung uses Android too, and Sony (Ericsson) has never EVER even dared to develop a smartphone platform on their own.

Also, The X10 as one of the best? Come on! the thing released with a painfully outdated OS (1.6) and SE didn't bother to upgrade it to 2.1 till months later, and even then, the thing was still outdated. Yes, it got 2.3 a year after launch, but it runs as smooth as sandpaper. Not to mention it's flaky build quality.

Don't take me wrong, I do own an Xperia Mini Pro, but Sony just can't get their sht together. Have you seen how custom ICS roms (such as CM9) run on the original Galaxy S? And how terrible they are on the X10? That speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Talk about future-proofing.

Despite having the same chipset, Sony won't update the X10 because it's old news.
