Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Sony Xperia Z display shootout appears - read the full textThe dual-SIM sibling to the Samsung Galaxy S IV has been subjected to rampant testing in China. This time around we get a close look at the screen on the latest Samsung flagship and see hot it compares to the Reality display on the Sony Xperia Z and the Super AMOLED on the Samsung Galaxy S...

The S4 looks the better choice over the Z. However one thing bothers me: if you look at the color gradient image, the fine gradients are missing, for example the orange color is much "narrower" than on the Z (probably this is called color clipping). In other words: the change between the three main colors is too harsh, there is no fine gradient between them. Can this be corrected with the new manual color settings, Or this is how samoled screen works?

And they don't look so great, the HTC One X is still the best smartphone LCD I've seen yet. Better than the S3 to be honest. But if the S4 has a good brightness and sunlight legibility, it'll be the best phone screen bar none. So, I don't dispute the awesomeness of the XZ, it's one of the best phones out there. The best screen does not make the best phone.

But there is lag in every computer system available phone or not. And there is a noticeable difference in a-15. Especially the longer you have it. If your taste is the Z then I hope for the best for you. But that is different then coming in here and knocking every advantage the s4 has as useless and makes them on par just because the Galaxy is not pretty enough. Meanwhile if it was you and many others would sing a different tune

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-03-20 00:05 from 4QSR - click to readMy Bad...i actually meant 2 quad cores. Well the design is a personal preference and for me Z is so much better in that department. I even think the design of S2 is far better than both S3 and S4! And about the processors...well its all just a number game. None of these quad core processors have reported any sort of lags till now..the differences are evident only on the benchmarks.
And as i said...since all these phones are based on gimmicks are not something which needs to be boasted on coz sooner or later its gonna come for every phone out there. In the end its a matter of personal preference!
As far as i'm concerned the Design, Screen, Stamina Mode, Camera and the Music player has been excellent so far in the ZL (The back is not glass as in the case of Z but a tad bit more comfortable to hold)...other than that Z and ZL are the same! So i would always vote for Z over S4

> In reply to Prototype @ 2013-03-19 16:01 from vfxa - click to readHow is it subjective? And it's simply because ambled wins. The screen are gorgeous and for the few internet trolls complaining about saturation you can make the colors more dull. Even then it's blacks cannot be matched. It's thinner and saves more power. It'd viewing angles and sunlight legibility are second to none. It's just a more advanced display. And it even has a new auto adjusting feature"one of those *gimmicks*". First of it was truly 8 Cote running it would be a great step to the future as long as it was developed for. But only 4cores run at a time. These are in fact computers. Not just but it's quad core A-15 which destroys A-9s. Plus A-7s for power saving. It's also got DDR 3 ram compared to ddr2 for faster more efficient memory. And none of those would be gimmicks if Sony brought them. And claiming that everyone else will have them eventually is a lowly excuse of a way to try and negate the fact of their usefulness or that Samsung is trying things

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-03-19 13:25 from utt1 - click to readYou make no sense. first of all it's dual quad core not dual dual core. So four cores work at a time not two. Second even if it was only dual core that an A-15 kicking inside as compared to A-9 so it's way out of everyone's league. They tested a dual core 800mhz a-15 against a 1.3ghz quad in going through a set of web pages while downloading a movie and playing a song. Guess which one dominated? The A-15. The design is just preference. Honestly nothing is that special about the Z's design. It's pointier mostly which actually makes the S4 more comfortable to hold. As to How the Z feels and works it's in a lower league

You know I think Its really subjective if we talk about the screen and for me I prefer the Xperia Z. and on the plasticy issues Sammy sure is use really good plastic and feels great.. but I think its still way far away from the premium feel for a flagship. And the other side its a good point it such a waste using octacore for smartphone its not a pc... And for design and some features I absolutely pick Xperia Z... but I hate the grayish screenn...

To all those who claim S4 has an octa uses the big little architecture, ie only 2 cores work at a time, so based on the hardware both the phones are almost in the same league. Design wise Xperia Z wins hands down! I own the Xperia ZL and i must say the viewing angle is excellent no problems at all...but i expected it to be poor coz i don't want people sitting by my side to see what all i'm texting!
As far as the software gimmicks of S4 go...hey!! All are using the Android Platform..sooner or later all those softwares will be released for all phones out there! With all that considered Xperia is far superior to S4.

people complain about the over saturated colors of the super AMOLED panel of the samsung... un natural colors...why the hell they forget about the screen setting modes available i.e. natural and movie.... it brings the normaL and natural view of the screen. samsung has just given the dynamic and standard view for the users who prefer vibrant colors... soo simple!!!! height of lame excuses by the haters!!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2013-03-16 16:44 from srr1 - click to readYou bare looking at microscopic levels your eyes cannot really see. At 1080p at 5inches they will all look extremely similar resolution wise. What makes the difference is how it actually looks. Most people in real life "not internet trolls" prefer the amoled colors which are not cartoonish. Plus Samsung even has color adjustment in the settings. Even worse is everyone thinks the Z is kinda washed out looking. And no matter how much you adjust an LCD it will not have the blacks of Amoled. Not to mentions the deep deep blacks, viewing angles, low power consumption, smaller space, and unbeatable sunlight visibility of Amoled. Then there comes all the software enhancements of S4. Do not get me wrong. The Z is beautiful and a great phone, but you do not have to be any fan to see the advantages of the S4

> In reply to Henry Léon @ 2013-03-16 18:44 from PRW@ - click to readExactly. Just because the S4 has a simple design everyone...Especially Sony dans and of course crapple fans are bashing it. They even go as far as to claim they all its hardware advancements and software tricks are useless. Completely and utterly garbage. All just because its not flashy. Meanwhile they all calim everything else is better. They negate any cons of it and call all pros of s4 useless. Now if the S4 had a really sexy shell all those trolls would say different. But society only cares about looks. And the S3 and S4 are not even ugly...just simple. What's worse is this goes even beyond phones...they do this to people as well. Its highly and sadly unrealistic/immature/and plain stupid

I had Note 2 untill recently and while i didnt really feel it was too big for i have to say that Xperia Z has a more practical size. Note 3 will not be everyones preference, i think you can clearly see that also.

# Many people ridiculously prefer to judge a book from its cover as they looked at SGS4's body's material (made from special plastic -- not just plastick trash). They actually had not used the phone yet, but they could speak to give bias reviews about it.. It is amazingly LOL.
# I'm just wondering whether Experia Z has unique Slo-Mo and Quick-Mo Video Cam features as in Galaxy Note II I and my family like to play with. I'm also using Experia V, although it is powered by 13MPx Cam, but, unfortunately, it has no such features. [Make.Believe.That.I'm.Not.Happy.With] :-/
