It's true, I think the point of this telephone is image and image only. Nothing more.
If I had the money; yeah, I'd probably buy it.

by the way, most of these expensive phones sold on eBay are fake and make in China, i can get an exact phone for $280 with same box and looks & feels the same and has the same software.. be careful only buy this from Nokia seller.

Some people do not care much about functionality. They want something that will reflect their higher status and compliment their glamorous lifestyle.
But not just the super rich, but also the more fashion oriented who views necessity equipments like a mobile phones as more of an accessory. And yes, the Nokia Arte Series, even the previous 88xx models does this job very well.
It's a matter of what you want the phone to do for you.
If your a power hungry multimedia monster, you'd probably go for feature rich phones such as N96 or W960.
But if what you are looking is a beautiful accessory almost like a jewel, then Nokia's Arte series is hard to beat.
But of course there's the more ridiculously expensive Vertu phones for the ridiculously wealthy.

For those with more dollars than cents,
this near featureless phone is definately for you.
Nokia will love you, for helping bump up their profits.
Good luck to Nokia with this one!
An easy buck here!

I'm sure there are people out there who do... just because you and me don't see a need does not mean a handset should no exist. There may be some people who want a phone that is exactly like that!
