Boring
Note and note 2 compact enough and with S-pen they are amazing.
I like my phones, I am ok and dont like around 4" phone, without screen they are not smart phone...
Good like guys :)
fly'nfree, 20 Apr 2013Samsung and LG have no intension of making small form factor smartphone right now, I hope Sony... moresamsung already have high speced 4 inchers and below .its htc who are not putting high specs to their small or mid/low range phones. if you want an htc in india with a front cam the cheapest (not so cheap INR.26000/- usd 480) is One S. still it does not have expandable memory only 16 gb. all the others below it does not have front cam, compass, and so. But desire x and desire v would have been a good compact phone(they are only 118mm long ,with 4 inch screen) if they had compass and front cam. Samsung have compass in their basic androids = usd 100. I have been looking for a good speced midrange from htc for years. Then came the One SV with 8 gb internal ,with sd card slot, compass with glonass, gorilla glass 2, front cam rear cam 5mp with flash, but a little low resolution and fairly big 4.3 inch screen and 128mm long phone. that was the near perfect htc midrange but it was never released in India. There are good options in samsung and sony with high specs. But I don't like their UI. So it looks like I have to buy the high end model of HTC One X plus which has now a price of only INR 28500 (usd 527) little old it missed only the msd slot. though it has 64 gb, having a micro sd slot been good way to back up data from the phone. than a pc or drop box.
why ask for high end small screen phone?
are you using 10" DESKTOP for gaming?
are you using 20" TV for your Home Theater?
if you are serious, get an iPhone 5.
Stop Wearing Skinny Jeans and you'll be able to fit a 4.7-5 inch phone in your pocket.
While I do agree, however, that there needs to be smaller devices with top of the line specs as well.
Everybody needs a top choice device and 5+ inch is not perfect for everybody.

GSMarena you should stop, ponder and think about this very fact before you go raving on about petition.
Rather make a petition to convince Apple to create a bigger screen iPhone. I think that would make a huge difference in the market. I feel that many people skip buying iPhone because they want bigger screen phone.
so you guys want a powerful device but in small form factor? how are you going to even power it up with a small battery?
I want xperia 4.3" FHD with Ratina display.
I doubt if this strategy works. I'm fine with the 4.8 inch screen of my SGS 3. 5" might be pushing it but still okay. Honestly, I could never imagine myself going back to a 4 inch display after experiencing the wealth of benefits of a device with a huge display. 4.3" hits the sweet spot.
I think the most important thing is that all high end phones bought at full price Must come with dual SIM capacity.
I am on a trip abroad with my note 2 but it is ridiculous that I need to carry 2 phones at times or to swap sims at times.
The first handset maker that does that will get my money.
Although, the rock hate small screan, the rock sign the petition, anyway.because the rock do this for the people(compact loving phone people).please fellow people(big screan lover) just do this for them.beside, oems ain't gonna stop making big phone.they just make compact one along with the big one.
Xperia SP with 2GB of RAM and Super LCD will be a perfect phone i think. smaller always means some thing needs to be reduced because of the size constraint. so i think 720p at 4.6 inches is the optimal way to have it.
Companies need to just focus on amazing batteries, note 2 battery is great but size would be better 5 inch instead of 5.5...
I find the petition is very unconvincing to OEMs
- For smaller phones with around 4" screen, 720p is simply over kill and only add more burden to battery life and manufacturing cost. Even the super sharp iPhone 5 doesn't have 720p screen.
- If you don't have a HD screen to drive, I don't see the point for such a phone to ever need latest quad, octa-core. The only outcome is miserable battery life and unreasonable price of the handset.
Manufacture cost is probably the same if not higher for trying to put a same hardware into a much smaller body. For example, higher density, more expensive battery to offset for smaller size; higher dpi screen (of a same resolution); smaller camera sensor and lens of a same capacity...
Now you are trying to build smaller phones at higher cost to the flagships and selling them to a much smaller crowd. To this point, how you're gonna priced this handset? Same or higher than the flagship? Won't sell. Significantly lower than the flagship? Won't cover the higher cost.
There were already a few phones that went to that route, small size with sharp screen and capable hardware (at the time) and none of them were a success, namely Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, Xperia P, Xperia SX, Motorola RAZR i...
Sir, you can anchor this article on main page where every one could find it on opening the site, this way article will keep it self relevant and will make more impact
Instead make a petition asking Xiaomi mi-2s to be launched global, the specs are just as good or even better than s4 if you take in the consideration of 3000 battery (optional). snapdragon 600, 2gb ram, 13 mp cam on 32 gb mode, 720p res on 4.3" IMO is just as good as 1080p on 5". If companies like xiaomi went global, am sure these so called mainstream companies will take notice. Oh even samsung's box for s4 looks like the one Xiaomi has been using for almost ever.
I think 4.3" display is best. And it must be edge to edge display like Motorola RAZR M. It is best suitable for single hand use.
At now I can not afford Hingham end phones so I have good choice in mid range with that screen range.
4 inch is enough for smartphone, if want bigger then make it tablet
Why an octa core... if the screen is too small for playing games or too small for side by side multitasking... ?
