By around late this year or early next year, screens will be foldable or flexible. Samsung already demonstrated their technology. There are others developing different solutions.
Sticking to small screens on high end (powerful) devices that people will use more, more frequently and for longer periods will cause health issues. Maybe even lawsuits against the manufacturer if it will be proven that the issues are widespread.
Over 6" HD phones are the future, decimating the need for separate tablet devices once and for all. I sure as hell won't be going back to 2005.
rt324, 21 Apr 2013what is the point of power if you don't have a large screen on wich to use it? that is why you... moreOh really... Then whats the point of having 5 inch .. 5.5 inch .. 7 inch .. 10.1 inch.. when there is no true multi-tasking??
The samsung multi-view is a joke. Only 2 selective apps per time only.
4 inch at most you view 1 application per time, 5 inch .. at most you view 2 application per time.
What gain do 4 from 5 inch give you? Nothing at all .. only hurt your pockets and harm the world for more plastics!
Our regular phones don't need large screens because we use them more for voice calls and text messaging. However, with processors now rivaling older PCs, our smartphones are now capable of doing more tasks and are therefore used longer. In fact, smartphones are really less of phones but more like handheld computers. People stare longer and more frequently at their screens, surpassing regular calls/text. Not only that, we stare at them while walking or on moving vehicles. Smaller screens would strain eyes and cause health problems. Better manufacturing and design technologies today allow us to have larger screens in thinner phones. Hence, if you multiply the Width and Thickness of today's 4~5 inch smartphones, which is equivalent to your "grip", you will find the result similar to early cellular phones like Nokia 2110 or old Motorolas.
Personally, I like big screen ph and planning to buy galaxy mega 6.3. Instead, I want to vote for 4G ram ph.
Maggu, 20 Apr 2013Size and shape - Galaxy S2 (A lil think will also do) Processor - Quad core Ram - 2GB Bater... moreI would also add MHL/HDMI output and microSD (removable without affecting the battery, unlike S2). The former is what I miss on my Razr I (if only Razr M would have been an international quad-core).
Omar Mohamed, 20 Apr 2013I love GSMArena, but I am against the petition. High end compact phone won't sell well like t... moreAnd how would you know that? They don't allow us to vote with our pockets because there is no high-end pocket phone. On 4.7"-5" range, you have a lot of designs and you can actually choose what you want. Not to mention that the record-breaking 1st 3 months sales of SGS3 are mainly due to marketing. I don't think 50% of those buyers really know what they bought and what alternatives were available.
my thinking is 4.5 screen display good for evrry one to esey use in one hend

Ashad Chowdhury, 20 Apr 2013I think most of the guys commenting here haven't seen the resolution of iPhone 5 in 4'' displa... moreHey chawdhari look most of the high end android phones have far better ppi density than iphone. Such as galaxy S4,HTC one, experia z ,LG even very cheap branded Chinese phones like Xiaomi , Zte,Huawei,Lenovo etc.Apple was very popular because there were no competiters now time and technology, innovations have changed. But Apple is there where it started and crying and blaming others. So bigger screen with high ppi density phones are progressing rapidly.
