Well, nicely timed I have to say, I personally believe touchscreens are over-rated, the apple-appeal though, isnt.
Apple is a powerhouse brand, that appeals to a relatively big segment of people, their products are top-notch and of high quality on most occasions, Apple Iphone was no different, mediocre specs, smart ideas, and an apple branding, all together, helped build up the hype.
Nokia knew this, it's a trend, ... That is not backed up by actual customers needs. And foresaw a short life-span for it, biggest hint, is Iphone's 3G current performance, we all agree that its not at all like the original Iphone.
its just a trend that would soon dwindle, and thats why I believe nokia introduced this to an XpressMusic phone, ... To put TS functionality where it belongs, in a price range that allows 16-22 y.o to purchase this gimmicky, touch oriented funky, music-centric mobile phone.
Don't under-estimated the importance of tactile feedback of a physical key pad, it feels more natural to use, thats something that people need, TS dont rank up as high in terms of comfort of us.
you can type much faster on a keypad that on a touch screen, without looking even, using one hand.
Good Job with 5800 though, looks nice and trendy.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-09-25 15:48 from NHUD - click to readits a full TS phone.no keypad and no keyboard. but you'll have two touch sensitive buttons and one home button in the center just like the i phone.
there are rumors that a 5mp version of this phone will be release by december.i hope they'll make it 8mp!

A 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 16 Million colors will go up against the iPhone's 3.5-inch multi-touch display. To handle communications duties, there's a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE radio with 3G UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, and some GPS thrown-in for good measure. There's also a 3.5mm headphone jack and TV-out port on the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia. And, just like the updated N82, the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia will support geo-tagging of pics - a nicety allowed by the built-in GPS receiver.
Nokia 5800 XpressMedia specifications:
* 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 16 Million colors (Tactile Feedback)
* 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus
* Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE radio -3G UMTS/HSDPA
* Bluetooth 2.0
* WiFi
* GPS
* 3.5mm headphone jack
* TV-out port
* 140MB on-board storage
* 111 x 52 x 14.5 mm
* 104g
* First device powered with S60 touch
* High resolution 16:9 touchscreen range between 3 inch to 3.5 inch
* End of 2008 launch
CAN'T WAIT!
