After TSMC affair Apple might return to Samsung in 2015 - read the full textApple and Samsung are having very public fights in courts around the globe, but the two companies were working quite well together with Samsung supplying components for Apple's gadgets. Inevitably, the legal spats lead to talk that Apple will be moving on to TSMC for its next chip...

just so you know Apple designed the chip, its just they outsourced the manufacturing to Samsung.

So basically these chips are still within apple specifications and innovations to make sure IOS runs faster w/o the need of having higher clock rates and cores running ...

Apple are not using the SoC Samsung made for their Galaxy lines.

Apple wants enough money to not only get all those parts free, but even get paid profit to use those parts

> In reply to se7engold @ 2013-07-16 03:54 from Bgdq - click to readAt the time of the 1 Billion award, that 1 Billion was slightly less than the amount of money Apple spent for parts from Samsung in 1 QUARTER.

Given Samsung's quarter over quarter over quarter earnings in the last year, all I can say is "it didn't matter".

What does matter is that in many people's mind both companies have resorted to dirty business practices, which was only reinforced in the recent ebooks antitrust ruling against Apple.

Although it was Tim Cook's decision to fight, it was a memo and e-mails from none other than Steve Jobs himself that was the smoking gun.

Well, with all the court-saga it's possible Apple got all the chips for free (or at least some big discount)

That has nothing to do with weather they jumped on the bandwagon or not. Did you even think out that reply or just not like it and go off?
