UIQ is going nowhere, Sony Ericsson are done with it - read the full textSony Ericsson doomed the Symbian UIQ platform by publicly stating at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London that "UIQ didn't attract the operator, manufacturer or consumer interest needed to stop it from failing". Ever since I switched from the P910i to Vivaz pro, I get a feeling I lost lots of the UIQ features.
First of all, with the same contacts list, if the phone number is not exactly the same as in the list, Vivaz pro will not display the contact name whereas the P910i will display the correct name.
Second, in the P910i, I can get the contact information easily from the call list, whereas this is not possible with the Vivaz Pro.
Third, The nice Jotter on the 910i is not available on the Vivaz Pro.
Forth, a host of applications on the P910i are not available on the Vivaz Pro with the same functionality. I lose lots of convenience I had on the 910i.
Fifth, The handwriting capability is very straightforward in the P910i, whereas the handwriting capability in the Vivax Pro is clumbsy.
Sixth, They really should have the good old pen with the Vivaz pro. Operating without it requires too much effort to "aim" your finger contact point.
Seventh, really miss the 5 way wheel on the p910i.
As a whole, I would have sticked with my p910i if both of mine were in good working condition.

I was die hard fans of Ericsson and Sony Ericsson. Since beginning i thought UIQ is a very bulky interface. Me and my girlfriend decide to move to Windows Mobile. I don't see any benefit to keep buy Sony Ericsson touch device, the UI is mess

The fact is that all 3 Symbian interfaces are going to be replaced by a unified one. but by this obviously irresponsible statement, Sony ericsson has only exhibited its frustration @ its own failures. afterall, even by combining two big firms they failed to acheive what others like Samsung, LG and Blackberry have acheived. particulary blackberry.
I use P1i, and will state that if there is a problem, its surely not with uiq.

of course customers not interest on UIQ anymore because Sony Ericsson still use same spec in their new UIQ Phone example P990i to P1i. Sony Ericsson only make new design on their product but the spec still same like their old product. look at G900i & G700i still same prossesor speed like old UIQ Phone [P990i , P1i , W950i , W960i , M600i] & still use UIQ 3. the new spec from G900i & G700i only WiFi now support G for G900i but screen size cut to 2,4inch [G900i & G700i]. the very bad G900i & G700i design is same. stupid SE please wake up , see your rival product & be profesional.

Se needs new CEO. They waste a huge money on UIQ, if they buy s60's share- and follow nokia's strategy, they gona capture 50% market within 2 years. We need smart 4n, dnt want backdated java. And need s60,nt uiq. IT IS CLEAR THAT SE HAVE A LOT OF COURPTED EMPLOYEE WHOS R JOINED ANOTHER BIGGEST MOBILE COMPANY. Se need newcomer, enagetiq adminstretion, if they dnt want 2 fall. Market research-nt only euroup, in ASIA 1000 MILLION mobile users, specially considar young gen. cz they r the proper user. Nw se need throw uiq, hug the s60- or se ll gone. If nw se nt aware, it ll be clear that THEY R CORRUPTED....

thanks for the advice bro! better which to HTC touch pro or HTC tytnII.

for now all i can say that "IM SO PISSED OF WITH SONY ERICSSON!" just heard that SONY and ERICSSON will divorce soon, better which to a phone manufacturer that can be trusted with a RELIABLE operating system!

to all guys out there who still wants to buy a SE phone dont give them your money anymore! let them rot!

SE should stick to what theyre good at, Walkman and Cybershot. concentrating on smartphones detracts from those two, and now they have a hiddeous W980 and a buggy C902, maybe the C905 will be the only good SE phone in 2008.

SE SE SE...Damn you...I have been dihard fan of SE. When I carried my P900, p990i, p1i anywhere, people just got influenced. Many of them wanted from me. Nokia phones never had that appealing, but only of name. P990i was a disaster, but really it worked well well for me. I never had problems. And SE phones were less buggy compared to NOKIA. which had almost complains in all phones.

Damn I was thinking of buying Xperia. But I have given it a second thought. I will now go for Tube! 5800Xpress. Still the decision is pending. I wish I would give SE another chance.

they should have introduce more phones with other OS such as S60....
announcing that UIQ is dead will simply kill your sales..
