Vodafone 1231 smartphone is hard on texting, but easy on the pocket

Vodafone 1231 smartphone is hard on texting, but easy on the pocket - read the full textA Vodafone exclusive Windows Mobile OS smartphone leaked today over at the FCC website, sporting a full QWERTY keyboard and GPS. The full QWERTY keyboard and the built-in GPS receiver that the Vodafone 1231 harnesses seem quite nice but there's no Wi-Fi or 3G support in sight so we guess it...

Nothing runs...
I´ve no vodafone contract but want to use this smartphone too..
What could I do to make GPSsignal, internet etc. run?
Are there any possibilities to set it up for using with an german prepaid card?
Thx a lot

It is a rubbish phone, partly due to Windows Mobile being rubbish.
It is produced by ZTE, ZTE sells the E811 http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/pro...e=ZTE%20e811

Does not come with updates (either WindowsUpdate or firmware updates).
The Java virtual machine has very bad support of Java features, need to install a third party (search "jbed").
I got a (badly) localised 1231 which I still cannot figure out how to switch between input languages (keyboard layouts). WHAT'S THE SHORTCUT TO SWITCH BETWEEN NATIVE LANGUAGE and ENGLISH?

Ok. I have one of these for over month now, and I must tell you it has been excellent. To be honest, I got this phone for free as I upgraded my vodafone subscription, therefore I assumed it would suck big time.

In contrast, it has a very good design (similar to my blackberry. The photos found on the net are ugly) it is quite light, the keyboard makes texting very easy (while a PDA I had made my life difficult with the stylus). Windows 6.1 is pretty fast thus I prefer it much more than other mobile OS, as I can find tons of software all over the net. I don't mind about the WiFi, as I always have a pc near me (home, office, etc) but I like that it has bluetooth and GPS. I installed destinator 8 and works perfect as I loaded the maps on an SD card.

On the today screen it has very nive looking (and useful) widgets. Also, the camera is ok. It has a kind of flash but I wouldn't expect more from a cell phone.

Overall, I am so far quite happy with this device as I don't think it lacks anything from my expensive blackberry or PDA (except wifi which I wouldn't use anyway).

ZTE is a manufacturer of Telstra phones normally for people who don't get reception in the more rural areas of Australia.

Now to be honest ZTE is more trouble than it's worth... More problems with them than any other phone I've ever sold.

I have 1 and this is a excellent smartphone. They have replicated the design of the Blackberry 8800. Overall the design is great and the OS (windows mobile 6.1) is great. Battery life is approximately 3 days without charging and all functions and features are great with UA.

It's because china does not support 3g fully. Wifi is rare in China.

This would need to be priced very competitively to be considered over other devices currently on the market
