Xiaomi will extend the lead further with Red Rice phone. Apple will have tough time in China even with cheap iPhone 5c which will cost at least $450 or more. That is more expensive than Xiaomi's flagship. Not to mention Oppo, Meizu and others cheap brand, they will take on the iPhone with their alternatives. Apple might drop to 10th place by the end of the year.

everyone has to remember samsung has like 10 different devices they sell ranging from $0 - $$$ so obv they will sell more and take more % in the sold units due to the range of wireless phones they are selling, as to apples "1" phone they have,

What ever apple do to there iPhones, China knows there tech and knows iphones is so dated and limited. Take of the limits and I can see iphone going far but untill then, android has taken over, so a good high spec phone Chinese people will go for as long as it also has android

Went to the mall where 3 of the major carriers have stores and there are maybe 6 independent phone retailers.

In all the stores, the Apple display is either in the front or to the front side.

Saw and tested at least 2 or three of the latest phones from Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, Lenovo, Acer, Sharp, Blackberry, Nokia. Huawei and Sony.

My impression is that all the phones now are fast. None of them have any lag with any of the games or playing videos. So anyone telling you that the android phones or any of the other OS' lag is lying.

Second impression. The Apple iphone looks about 5 years behind everyone else in terms of style and size. If you like a small phone you can get an iphone. But seriously, why would you other than for the name?

If I wanted a phone about the same size as the iphone with the same capabilities I'd get one of the Acer Android models that run from $150-$200. They actually have some styling in their design and perform well (and have removable battery, FM, SD card slot and one even has dual SIM).

If I wanted to spend about the same as an iphone I'd get the LG or Sony. They are more appealing to the eye and in the hand they feel more durable than the iphone.

So yea, Apple is giving the stores marketing $$$ to make sure their displays are in the front to get people's attention, but once you walk around a bit and try a bunch of the phones (I did so for almost 4 hours) you realize how far behind Apple has gotten. It's not something that's going to be solved by coming out with a cheap iphone 5c.
