More camera samples from Sony Xperia Honami leak - read the full textThe Sony Xperia Honami is rumored to have a relatively big 1/2.3" 20.7MP image sensor as well as a 28mm, F/2.0 Sony G lens, but we've only seen one camera sample. A few more have leaked, but unlike the first one, these were shot at 8MP resolution. The first sample was shot with an Xperia Honami...

The quality looks rather terrible for now. At 8mpx they are super grainy and noisy, it's barely on par with first gen 8mpx shooters. However, there's still a lot of time until release and hopefully it'll get much better.

Is it true that we can't take 20 mega pics in 16:9 format?

Commendations to Sony. But this is a classic example that its not all about the mega pixels. There's a lot of noise when you zoom in. That says something about the low light performance. When Sony had the best camera phones that's all I would buy. When Nokia N8 came out I made the switch. Now my 808 Pureview is miles ahead and I'll replace with the Lumia 1020.

Either they are bluffing big time so that the expectations may go down... or we are about to take that all with the whole damn rock of salt...

Better not be the second possibility cause people have already had their blood pressure shot up by taking everything with that famous "Pinch".

As for those eager to compare Honami's Cam with 1020 while expecting the earlier to beat or match the later, should open their minds and stop acting dumb. After all, the plain fact that 1020 packs a 1/1.6" sensor as opposed to 1/2.3" of Honami is alone enough to tell the story not yet fully told. It's like expecting the GTR to flatly beat the Bugatti in a 1 mile drag race. Hmmm unless the GTR is modified and ... there comes the famous "pinch" again...

Has sony corrected their display problem yet? It goes dim after several minutes usage altough screen timout has been set the max. It is a product failure from xperia z.

for a camera company, I don't understand why sony mobile cams are inferior to apple ones. iph5 and ipad have better cam than xperia z ph and tab

Pre software but still very disappointing indoor pics, sony always has very good sensors but VERY poor processing software, they iPhone uses sony sensors but creates a much better photo.

Megapixels are not value of quality, I have Xperia Z and I'm not satisfied. Ok, I know that smartphone isn't professional camera, but try to improve your optics quality, then 8 megapixels would be just fine.

lack of detail if 8mp can't produce sharp images than this surely need 20 MP sensor
