Essentially speaking, half cooked technology screwed up technically superior companies and this will certainly have an impact on mobile technology.

Maybe you forgo... moreI should add that BIS here costs about USD8 per month unlimited which is cheap. I also had a Note, the first version, which when upgraded the os actually went slower, so all manufacturers have their problems. My comments on security are fact. The Z10 works like a dream, it is good enough. Over rated specs can never cover the short fall in an inherently leaking os, such as Android.
Its a vicious circle... once you are in the top its very difficult to maintain the same momentum... it happened with Nokia now Blackberry... tomorrow might be Apple/ Samsung unless and until they keep on improving the way they introduced the destructive innovation... which lead to the fall of the GIANTS.
No more hopes left for BlackBerry to survive. It's their stupid management. Nokia was able to survive because of some cheap products with overall balanced specifications but failed due to the management. BlackBerry has released some cheap phones but with old OS and mediocre specifications and price price. I still think Qwerty has a change. I'll buy the Q10 tomorrow if it wasn't much expensive than what it offers but sadly i can't due to the price tag. The management is really responsible for all this. All BlackBerry need to do is cut their products prices to make it affordable, then the products will sell, BlackBerry will get more developers support, more apps will attract customers, lots of free applications on the store, and BlackBerry on top of the mountain again.
$4.7 billion? Makes me think Nokia was sold too cheaply.

You can get other Android and WP phones which featured better spec and performance, and lower price.
Plus, BBM is something from the past glory of BB.
So, although I hope BB does survive, I choose other phones instead of any BB overhyped products.
Good Luck...

I bought A116 and it was pathetic. I will not compare Micromax with Nokia or Blackberry for years to come.

The big mistake they made was overpricing, but Z10 in Jakarta is now about USD430. Quite cheap compared to expensive Samsung. But it is not toxic. In fact i think BB will come back and the reason is because of the spying with PRISM that has been reported extensively. Google (Android), Apple, and MS, have been noted as leaking like a sieve. So if you are Government or sensitive business, you have no choice but to use Blackberry. I use a Z10, and people are always surprised how good it is.

Even this Fairfax parties could be a fake one just to get some attentions from other parties.
If MSFT or Samsung or Google are considering to buy, now that's a good news. But I guess it is not, cause they know what happens with BB lately. It is just a burden.
It was always on the cards. Now given the extent of PRISM infiltration in Apple, Google (Android), Yahoo, Skype, etc, perhaps there is an enormous market for Blackberry if properly promoted. NO sensitive business, or private company, or indeed a Government can afford not to use Blackberry.
Just when peoples said MS is cheap for paying Nokia 7-8billion for the devices, and then look at this man! 4.7billion is the offer to buy the company, remember is the company not just some part of it.
I wish the new management give it a turn around
