Nokia do not seem to realise the N96 took that long to release an does not live up to its price match an with this idea loads will turn there backs on it,.why coundn"t they release a N96i with a better battery an a 8 mega-pixel camera on it as they are not showing much challenge to Samsung an Sony Ericsson 8 mega-pixel mobiles at all

It's not that of a ridiculous move; GSMArena failed to mention that the phone will retail only in China (they do mention, though, that the phone was launched in Hong-Kong). Now, obviously, Bruce Lee is HUGE in China, so it will be a valid selling point in that specific market. Moreover, pricing makes a lot of sense, too -- Nokia makes money not on a number of devices it sells, but on a profit margin (MSRP minus production costs) of its devices, which means they make more money selling less devices with a bigger profit margin, than more devices with a small profit margin. So, basically, even this Bruce Lee thing pushes their sales 10% (in terms of absolute number of devices), their profits of N96 will skyrocket.
That said, I wouldn't personally buy this phone. I wouldn't buy an original N96 for that matter. N85 is so much sweeter.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't overcharge for the phone. The price of it is ridiculous. It should've retailed for $550-$600 USD. Everyone would flock to get it then. You can't charge the same price for the n96 when it shares almost the EXACT same features as the n95 which came out over a year ago. It's just madness.
