they need to test their software, not hardware. The N series are useless.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-21 18:46 from G2GSThere are carrier-oriented Nokia and SE and let me remind you iPhone is carrier-specific as well. US is much restricted when it comes to mobile tech. Their carriers wont let Nokia or SE or anyone to have full features. They are opening up slowly though. Samsung overtook Moto in their homeland. LG is doing great with CDMA there for long. Nokia or SE hadrly has any impact.

Now whats getting me confused is what are the nominations?
Anyone has the list? I couldn't find it online. Please post.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-21 18:03 from EBjAI do agree with you on that. Verizon is very tricky and guess what, dumb ppl prefer them. i guess they like verizon to stick it up thiers lol.. but its true, they block the mp3 player for you to buy thier expensive music. not fair. i will always like gsm phones.

Just when I was about to congratulate LG for their success I read :"the CES committee has only considered carrier-exclusive handsets"... No Nokia, No SE, No HTC, No Apple... No wonder!!

I dunno, while I totally agree with everyone here that it should be SE's and Nokia's winning these awards, I think there is some validity to giving to handsets that have been partnered to service providers. Everyone posting on this site is obviously very into phones, or we wouldn't be here, but the broad majority of phone users in the world do not come to GSMarena (sadly), and they base their opinions and purchases largely off of what their service provider has in stock. Thus, I do think it says something that LG has been absolutely FLOODING the market with phones this last year. Like I said, I like Nokias and SE's alot more, but when it comes to pushing their top models through to service providers (ESPECIALLY IN THE U.S!), they really fall short. Props to LG for pushing the envelope this year; that's what free market competition is all about! :)

Verizon - the evil of all carriers - is the most powerful, lots and lots of money ppl.
I remember a few yrs back they completely flushed the factory menus and put their dumb 5-6 menu point on EVERY phone so the Americans will not be confused if they buy a diff. phone :)) LMAO!! They pretty much had the SAME phone just diff shell :). They removed the features and sold them for extra. they reprogrammed phone so they will NOT play mp3 anymore and forced you to buy music from them!
A company like that should be banned from any (positive) awards for 25 years!!!

Ah...
Just realize the last sentence...
"That also explains why there aren't any Sony Ericsson or Nokia handsets among the winners"
Now we know why...
Peace!
