Even american iphones work in other countries if the carrier unlocks them due to contract rules, samsung has no good reason to do this and there should be less versions of the same device, people do not live in cages and they do internet purchases

-most of people such as engineer, service, sell, marketing, manager... travel. What happen if they are from Euro to Asia, and want to use the local Sim (cost reason example)? Most of tourist people also use local Sim because cost reason.
-look like Samsung think they are the king now. This policy shall kill a lot of future customer, special with travel people. SAM want to die faster than Nokia.
-while Apple apply the WorldWide warranty now, Samsung try to limit their user region. Really funny here.

Samsung made official statement. .power of the samsung just with in hours officialy replied :D
This is exactly why I will never own apple devices. If samsung indeed sim lock it then I will most certainly upgrade with HTC or LG

You saying maybe samsung will be like today nokia in future.... moreI have no believe overall. I was just stating "what-could-happen" and as being a student of Economics, I can clearly see when there is a rise, there is a fall. A company always face recession, recovery and prosperity. It's just the way you are understanding my statement which is in-fact the contrary.
"All I was saying is that wait-and-see and stop assuming what the future is" And those were just examples which I have given and I was also assuming you would have understand it as an example but....

Will the loss of sales to customers out weigh the profits increase from regional price variation? I suspect that people will start to get import region unlocked phones from the cheapest region and profits will fall overall.
This is sort of good news for competitors and also bad news. Regional price variation will lead other manufacturers to lose out in the lower price markets but they will have a better reputation than Samsung...
Bad move overall as there is a development, manufacturing and shipping cost to region locking all to and maximize profits per unit. Just continue to make the best products for each price bracket and the profits will always be healthy

What the f#*k??? It will only limit samsung freaks in some part of the globe from buying their choice samsung phones...its not fair, I think its pointless too
Samsung is digging its own grave... lol...

Who knows me or you will die today.?
"start of the end", should I say?

Nokia is 100% depended on mobile phones.
I would say same for Sony and LG ..they are also not only depended on mobile phones.
Instead of selling my used high end phone for peanuts, I send it back home to a member of my family. But with this new policy, it would be impossible to do that.
It's pretty easy to get to the top, but very difficult to stay there.
@Syed Ejaz
As I said, nothing is predictable to the actual extent. You can't even say about anything here right now. You aren't someone from the future. Beside, isn't it a Mobile-tech site in which we are arguing and what does it has to do with Fridges or Televisions?
Samsung can be like Nokia or Motorola but what if they emerge as a Monopolist, next year for the next 10 years? Therefore, instead of assuming, why can't just wait and see? Is that hard to believe?
