AnonD-27765, 04 Oct 2013Apple has already totally outclassed Sony. What remarkable innovation has Sony bring forth in ... moreI can't think of anything innovative Apple has done in the last 7 years, either. What's your point?
Apple has never been innovative. All industry analysts acknowledge this. Their strength is in execution: getting it right. Not coming up with it to begin with, which they have rarely ever done.
AnonD-114170, 04 Oct 2013Do your homework. Don't be lazy.Come one, don't be too lazy to type. Laggy touch keyboard? You should try swype or swiftkey and make things easier for yourself. :)

So now you complain the ultraportable phones they have and you say they didn't are obsolete. Nice going...
We must have different definitions of innovation. Mine is the one who introduces something new first, yours is the one who appeases the critics.

It's like complaining that Dell doesn't make its own CPUs. Who cares? Why not complain that Apple doesn't make its own cameras (they buy Sony's)? What's so special about the processor as opposed to all of the other essential components?
Portability is no worse than any other smartphone manufacturer, as portability is binary, not a continuum: does it fit in your pocket or not? If so, it's portable, if it doesn't, then it's not. My Xperia Z Ultra fits in my pockets, no sweat whatsoever, AND it has comfortable bezels that allow me to take full advantage of the gigantic class-leading display, unlike phones with too little bezel that you have to awkwardly hold by the sides.
Sony has only the standard features? Don't get out much, do you? Nobody was talking about waterproofing until Sony started doing it. Now, waterproofing is a must-have for some people, and it will only grow in importance. By the way, I can draw on my Z Ultra using any pencil or metal-tipped pen, no need for some gimmicky stylus. Anyway, I have NO idea why you seem to think Apple is in any way a leader in specs: even Apple fanboys don't say this, because they know it's not true. Large display? Nope. HD display? Nope, not even 720p, Android is at 1080p. NFC? Nope. Waterproof? Nope. Expandable storage? Nope. They only even added LTE last year. But by all means, enjoy your fingerprint scanner. I'm sure everyone was just DYING to get into your phone to find your nakie pics, but you're safe now!
Sony is lagging behind? Nope. They were first with a Snapdragon 800 device, they have the best Android cameraphone, they've set the new standard for design, and they have the only decent smartwatch out right now. They'll be number three by next year.

Nope, still behind.
Having a display lottery on a model like Z1 pretty much sums up everything you need to know about Sony and their displays.
Sure, they have bragging rights on paper and tech media, but what about the reality of their phones?
Nope, a selected unit with an amazing display doesn't make up for the rest of the *crap* they sell.

Sony still doesn't know how to make ergonomic-friendly smartphones. The iPhone 5s met rave reviews from critics for having the first and only usable fingerprint sensor on a phone. The one in the Motorola Atrix was a hit or miss.

They don't have ultraportability? What do you call their 3" smartphones (and the whole succession to the mini line) then?
Apple invented the fingerprint sensor? PLEASE! I'm pretty sure the 2011 Motorola Atrix has a little something to say about that.
Ronny, 04 Oct 2013Then please enlighten us, Mr. Socrates.:)Do your homework. Don't be lazy.
If they could make more smartphones instead of phablets
nepali mobile colors k2 had 1920*1080pxl full hd display available at rs 38,000 and Samsung galaxy s4 at rs 60,000 ha,ha,ha

vaibhav, 04 Oct 2013Hey...i think u r living in dreams...sony processor and its ultraportability and compatibility... moreSony processor? They don't even have their own processor or design their own chip. Apple design their own chips and Samsung has their own Exynos chipset aside from Snapdragon from Qualcomm.
Ultraportability? Sony smartphones are the largest and have the big bezels of all. The Xperia Ultra Z is almost as big as the Nexus 7 tablet.
Features? Sony only has the standard features while Apple always create their own innovations like fingerprint sensor, and Samsung has a lot of novelty features in their Galaxies not present on any other phones.
Sony is lagging behind everyone else.
Sony is one of a kind because they've integrated all their specialties-- from music player > camera > LCD Display > games into one slim sexy phone...
Aside from that it's also waterproof/scratch proof/shockproof
In addition it has full-packed feature that is really useful in everyday life...
...and they didnt cheat on benchmark
I currently have an old Sony Ericsson phone, i'm planning to buy an Xperia :D. I'm thinking M, L, or SP. I would love a ZR or ZL, but they're too expensive :(
