I'll give you the best T-mobile G1 review to date. It's a waste of time and money. A definite phone to pass on.

Why does Nokia think they can charge that much for their obsolete phones? I mean I like Nokia and was planning on getting the N96 when it was planned to release but after that omega delay and super late release they were still trying to charge over $900 for it. By the time the N96 came out, it was far obsolete to the Omia, HTC touch Pro and Diamond, Sony Xperia X1, HTC Touch HD etc just to name a few. I like Nokia phones (Currently using one) but until they get their act together and start charging reasonable prices for their phones, I don't want any part of them. It's ironic because the N96 and most of the other smartphones released overseas are FREE with plan but we in the US have to pay outrageous prices THEN pay for the Plan. I won't buy. The 5800 might be Nokia's first Touchscreen phone and thats all fine and dandy but its far obsolete to be charging $900. That's ridiculous Nokia. DROP YOUR PRICES AND YOU'LL SELL MORE!!!! Simple supply and Demand concept Nokia. If you make it affordable to people, you'll sell more devices AND more than likely make a bigger profit off of them.

900 USD? ROTFL.. LMAO .. seriously! For that kind of dough, I'd buy the HTC Touch HD that beats (no wait.. ANNIHILATES is the word) the puny 5800 in ALL departments and still have some change for ice cream.

> In reply to [deleted post]Did anybody see the phone in Batman - the Dark Knight?
It's only fair to pay a lot to get the BatMan Phone first. I allways get bored by my favorite toys in a few weeks. Methaforically speaking. Patience is a virtue, but if all people would be patient, than the phone industry would be 5 years behind. It takes buyers that go crazy when they read the specs and see the movies. And those buyers don't care about 200-300 euros more in the price. THey just want the toy. THis reminds me of a joke: "Kids, if you play nice, tomorrow we go to the candy store so we can see other people eating candy".

If any thing more than this, have to re-consider my options :)

Why? all of a sudden as the price of the "Tube" been doubled as with the money not available for loads of people this phone will never be good seller at all ,why do we in Europe all ways get the Top Prices for Mobiles nowdays its totally disgusting as the Quality an Reliabilty of mobiles do match the prices we have to pay, somethings got to be changed i hope to stop sellers boosting the prices to high an bring a law in so the handset maker gives the price they value the handset an thats the price it should be sold to customers an stop sellers over pricing the mobiles just to make money

> In reply to ND @ 2008-11-27 17:46 from wHSFi not so sure it's more expensive then an iphone when it came out online store where selling it $800-$1000 and it still cost $655/$249 with contract 8gb $755/349 with contract 16gb so i am not sure why you saying it's more expensive it was just launched & we are talking of an unlocked phone!!!!!! not a lock down phone that you need to jailbreak & unlock before you can even use it !!!

"The mass launch of the device now will most probably lower the retail price closer to the estimated target just in time for Christmas."
Does this mean that price will fall to 279 euro by xmas? I highly doubt!!!

Jesus, man! If anyone's paying anything close to $900 for this they are being seriously ripped off! I do expect the price to normalize over the next few months though.
