N85, N96 and the new handsets will NOT WORK!!!
Nokia, in their stupid wisdom, have LEFT OUT the 3d hardware acceleration chip (PowerVR) from these new models. There is NO WAY that this game will run.
check out these 3d benchmarks, the N85 and N96 are MILES down the chart.
BIG MISTAKE by Nokia, considering the N95 8Gb, E90 and N82 all have the same 3d chip as the iphone. Why take it out on the new phones?!

Yes it is the computer version. You need to install Quake 3 to a compatible computer then copy the BASEQ3 folder to the mass memory and place it in the folder you make called "Quake3". You just need the .PK files to run it. It runs rather well on the N95 8GB minus a bit of menu lag in sound and performance. The game play is rather good for the Version 1 release. You can choose to enter the CD Key at startup or just play the few demo levels if you have the pk file in there, if you don't have the folders or files on the mass memory it'll just sit idle when you try and open it.

Let's compare the hardware performance of gaming :
CPU Platform :
- Nokia N82 = TI OMAP 2420
- Nokia N95 8GB = TI OMAP 2420
- Samsung GT-i8510 INNOV8 = TI OMAP 2430
- Nokia N85 = Freescale I.MX31
- Nokia N96 = STMicroelectronics STn8815
JBenchmark HD Gaming Score :
- Nokia N82 = 625(20.9 fps)
- Nokia N95 8GB = 649(21.6 fps)
- Samsung INNOV8 = 956(29.0 fps)
- Nokia N85 = 166(5.5 fps)
- Nokia N96 = 127(4.2 fps)
NB : Nokia N79/E71/N81 using the same CPU with N85(Freescale 369MHz), Nokia E90 same with N82/N95 8GB(TI OMAP 2420 330MHz), and Samsung GT-i7110 same with INNOV8.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-30 17:00 from nS9hTI OMAP 2430 in use by Samsung GT-i8510 INNOV better than previous generation TI OMAP 2420 because TI OMAP 2430 include Graphic Accelerator and Digital Sound Processing. TI OMAP 2420 only have Graphic Accelerator.
TI OMAP 2430 frequency has been pulled up to 450MHz from previous 2420 value of 330MHz. The 2430 chipset can work with high definition camera(>5MP) and it take less than a second to take shot. The rest important point about 2430 hardware are an upgrade TWL4030 module(TWL92230 was used in 2420). TWL4030 is multifunctional solution providing access to numerous codecs, dedicated audio processing modules, noise filters, and soon. It's why Samsung using 2430 for multimedia 8MP camera phone i8510 INNOV8.
Nokia doesn't use TI OMAP 2430 because too expensive, and starting using single cheap processor Freescale 369MHz.

I read somebody say, N93 was the first with a hardware graphics accelerator. Sorry but you're mistaken friend Motorola E398 was the first to use a dedicated ATI Chip for hardware acceleration of
graphics. Although u can't compare that to what is in today, but only to get ur facts right!!

C++ rules
P.S. contrary to the article Quake III Arena is not only for "Nokia" smart phones and you also can't run it on the latest "flagship" N96.
No hate, just facts.
